Hi All!

'm sick and tired of my changer not reading CDR's. I gone right down to 1 speed and changed supplirs several times. My CD's work in other cars. Has anyone replaced the CD unit with another more reliable/better unit? If so, which one?

Please let me know.

Thanks

Rod

TDK CDR's work fine in mine, perhaps its your writer thats at fault??? . Do a search on head units as this has been discussed a gazilion times previously...

I am currently using the cheapest unbranded cd-r's i could find and my cd changer hasnt had a problem reading any of them.

Wonder if the difference is mine is a 2001 model and you all seem to have newer cars so may be a different changer with a weaker laser?

my changer in the leon played an unbranded cdr today, just tested t, my old cordoba changer also plays them fine too, liteon 52 48 52 writer and boggo cdr's.

My changer plays CD-Rs written from my Liteon 40x burner no probs.
I have had problems with a cd-r written from a toshiba laptop burner.

Biggest complaint is copy protected CDs skipping.. hence the need to effectively 'pirate' a legally bought cd to an unbollexed version to play it correctly in the car in the first place.. total f*cking madness!

Thanks for all your responses. I have a top notch burner that burns CD's that work on everything except my car (inc other cars, walkman, stereos, even my DVD player). I've tried Memorex/TDK...sometimes they play and sometimes they don't and I've tried recording at 1 speed. Running out of ideas and the dealer says ...................ah! yes we have experienced this problem quite a few times......works OK with originals......to which I reply................yeah I know that but I like to have the music I want, not orginals. dealer says nothing we can do!

URGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again guys.

I use £13 for 100 discs from Dabs. Never had problems with my CD changer had it in my Ibiza then moved to my Leon when I bought that. I've used different disks, speeds and burners.
