cd check error

hi guys ive posted this in the ICE section also...

ive recently bought a changer for my leon and fitted it etc

ive not had a cd to play yet

when i put one in all i get is the message "cd check" on the HU, anyone come across this before?

its the standard changer and aura HU by the way.

btw v.annoyed at the mo lol

How long did it do this for? It goes through all 6 disc slots before it plays anything.

an age (it normally just stays on), ive left it for ten mins and still nothing, it did once sat "disc 1 track 1" or similar but not a peep out of it and you cant skip through tracks or anything.

This happens on mine all the time! Usually it is one CD (the one you are listening to) so I remove it give it a polish and pop it back in the changer and hey presto it works!!!

cheers for the replies ill trying cleaning some CDs before i put them in (athough they look like they haven't got a mark!) and ill try some of the suggestions in Scott's link...

one other think when it werent playing i noticed if u turned the volume up to say 25 u could hear a noise that resembled "jumping" not sure what this means.

does the changer magazine have to be always full also?

tried cleaning cd's, little hand grabber thingy and over 20 odd CDs and the f**ker still wont play!!

i give up

This is a comon problem ad it sounds like the changer is bust, you ould try a CD lens cleaner.

I'm waiting for a new changer from dealer unde warrenty

I've had similar problems too........i'm on my 4th changer under warranty still at least they replaced it.

I did find on one of them that repeatidly pressing the disc your trying to listen to i.e. CD 1 it eventually came up with 'reset' on the display and it started to work again for a month or so.

Unfortunately even under warranty you dont get a brand new unit, they are all re-furbished and sent out as replacements. Until now all my replacements have been worse!!!
