CD Head Unit needs replacing, options?

56 plate FR, the CD player is failing at a rapid rate, what are my options for something with a sd card / usb input?

I have seen quite a few suggestions in regards to sat nav and improved units from 07 > cars but believe I need to update the CAN gateway at not a cheap price. What would be my options for something that does not require the update? Aftermarket?

Just to confirm mine does not have the usb / sd card or ipod input under the drivers seat.

The CAN Gateway upgrade isn't a bad investment as it would allow you go jump to the RCD 510 which is an awesome head unit. Can be had for under £200 from eBay and offers the large touchscreen, 6-CD Changer and SD card reader. Main advantage with these is they look awesome and integrate with everything else in the car. Well worth it over aftermarket IMO

Yes I did have a look at that, it does look very nice. It just puts the price to about £380 ish with having to have the gateway done too.

Do you know if the RNS 310 and 315 are able to be fitted without the gateway upgrade or are they all facelift units?

You can get the gateway for under £100 and fit yourself if you'd consider it - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131049927487

RNS 310/315/510 would also require. It's only the old MFD2 Nav unit as fitted to early Mk2 Leons and Mk5 Golfs that you'd get away without

Thanks for the link, I guess that can gateway with a £120 RCD510 from beay would make the lot under £200, not bad at all.
