Central locking control module

Hi,

Over the last couple of years I have experienced intermittant problems with my central locking. Whereby the remote will lock all the doors but will not unlock the drivers door so I have to use the key to open the drivers door. The problem only happens in the colder and wetter months. It appears to be an electrical problem as VAG COM has thrown up various codes all relating to other doors (see log below N.B this is the latest log but previous locgs have thrown up codes relating to rear doors too).

The fact that all the doors (at one time or another) have thrown up codes has made me think that the unit that controls the locks may have gotten wet/corroded contacts etc. I had heard that its located under the passenger footwell is this correct? Or will it be water leaking between windows and door cards causing corrion on contacts on the actual locking units.

I am a bit of a loss on it all so any advice would be most appreciated.

Many thanks ,

densil

Excuse me for resurrecting this ancient thread but I am getting this exact problem on my other half's Leon Sport.
Can anyone tell me the possible cause of this?
Just to recap, on pressing the unlock button the drivers door clicks but fails to unlock. (The switch in the centre console remains lit on the locked side). If you double press the unlock button the other three doors unlock but the drivers door remains locked. The switch in the centre console remains locked and doesn't function. The alarm doesn't go off. The drivers door unlocks with the key.
Thanks in advance.

Drivers door lock module fubar. Chances are the cold weather has done in the motor by freezing the door latch and messing up the motor. Not too hard a job to replace. In fact, I have a brand new one for left and right somewhere in my garage.

Thanks asasprey. Sounds expensive. The problem's only intermittent at the mo so I'll look into it further when funds allow. Did you have a price in mind for the modules?

I have a similar problem on my 56 Leon. Click once and drivers side unlocks no problem. Double click to do all doors and drivers door makes a click but doesnt unlock, rest of the car unlocks no problem. The inside unlock button works though. Very odd...,maybe Leona knows we are thinking of cahnging up in the new year...

soche,

I got fed up with it and in the end decided that it had to be the actual lock at fault. Bought a second hand one off ebay and took the door card off and replaced it. Was quite a tricky job and not one that I would be looking forward to doing again. The problem is putting the door card back on, seems like you have to push, pull, slide left, slide right all at the same time! Got there with a bit of perseverance.

Despite the annoying nature of the job I would try and do it yourself. I reckon I must have saved at least £250 by doing it myself.

And apologies for not having replied sooner, didnt notice that my thread had been revived!

Thanks densil. After using the key in the lock once it now appears to be back working again. Will keep an eye on ebay for another motor just in case but from the sounds of your experience I dont fancy whipping the old door card off and replacing the motor. Had to do similar job on the Z4 but for the window motor. Was a right bee-acth which luckily i found someone else to do for me in the end. Fingers cross I wont need to replace the lock motor.

Really sorry to resurrect yet another old thread but looking for some help re part numbers please.

I need a drivers door control module, as described above I need 1K0 959 793 M, however I can only find variations of this such as 1K0 959 793 'K' or1K0 959 793 'J', what is the difference, will they still work?

I'm quite sure it's my drivers side module causing problems. If I lock the car inside and then turn the yellow manual rotary jobby in the passenger door, everything locks except the drivers door. If I lock the car with the key using the drivers door it clicks but does not lock any doors, if I turn it the other way the central locking works and all the doors unlock.

So, it must be my drivers door control module, right?
