I've put one of them cigarette socket splitters there, so my rear passengers can charge phone etc

Mate that's a great idea. Did you feed the power off from the existing lighter socket by the handbrake? An actual new socket or just the double adaptor thing? Easy to do?

Yeah I just used the power from that, was very easy lol...took about 10 minutes. I have used a triple one so now have 4 charging units :)

Being an amateur, what kind of tools will i need? I’ve got it in my head that you had to take apart the centre console to get to the bottom of the original socket? Pics?

Basically, remove the surround where the cigarette lighter is, just use a flat screwdriver, remove plug for cigarette lighter and you will see wiring, there are 3 wires...one for live,one earth and third is for the light. Can't remember the colours now, just splice the wiring and connect your live and earth. Job done
