ive heard about someone on honda forums getting a standard valeo clutch painted gold from them, instead of an uprated one! does the gold painted bit play any part in the torque handling or is it only a cover?

Yeah I must say I'm unsure about it atm, not sure if the pressure plate is uprated or not how would you tell? Not sure what difference having a 5 puk insted of a 6 puk makes to the torque the clutch can take or the overall feel.
Anyone any wiser?

Had my clutch done today, its supposed to be a 6 paddle. I was unsure how it would feel but the new clutch is actually lighter than the standard one and the only thing I can tell that feels different is there is a slight judder (hardly noticeable) on engagement, but I only noticed it a couple of times on a 70 mile journey and the clutch needs to bed in. So my initial thoughts are pretty good.:D

So yours is deff a 6 paddle? I find it very odd that I have ended up with a 5 paddle, did you have a chance to see the clutch or presure plate before it went in? as I would be curious to see if the pressure plate is the same as mine.

I've been using the car over the weekend, and the missus has used it she said she can't tell any difference in the feel. Which shows it is very close to a standard clutch. When I drove it I didn't really notice the slight judder it had the other day. Just waiting for it to bed in before I can really test it.

Since buying mine I have managed to find a fair few bad reviews, Im giving them a ring tommorow as I want mine changed for the 6 paddle I ordered. I will also be ringing sachs to see if they can run any of the numbers on this pressure plate to see if it is indeed uprated.

I asked about the torque figures for my clutch and they said it will handle 380Lb/ft

They said 280 to me first of all then when I said I would be running around 380 they changed their mind and said 380. to be fair as much as I believe its right the guy who answers the phone most the time seems to just tell you what you want to hear.

I was looking at a CG clutch after I killed off my Sachs organic plate.
I req it to be rated to 420lbft due to planning water/meth etc and they said that would be fine.

in the end I stuck with Sachs and went for their Sintered Paddle clutch. Very good and rated to 480lbft so will never slip unless completely buggered.

I'll dig out a review I did for it.
