Change of opinion

I think there is different opinions of 'open cone' filters because there is more chance of dirt getting in the MAF but i know someone on here has had one on for more than 60,000 miles and not had a problem

It makes the Dump Valve noise much louder but depends if you want to take the 'risk' so to speak, you could always get one and just make sure you look and clean the MAF every month but the choice is really yours

I have an 'open' filter on mine and i know loads of other peeps that have as well

Who told you that?

The open cone allows hot air from the engine bay to be sucked in. Enclosing the filter and feeding cold air through a hose solves that problem. Cold air denser, more o2, more power etc etc

Jamie, if you want the biggest kick from any part go for the remap first - be it revo or whatever. Go get the 5hr free trial first, itll soon change your mind! The 007p isnt essential but the standard valve my break further down the line and cause issues.

The exhaust and intake aren't really essential and will mainly give you noise over performance on a standard ECU.

Get an enclosed filter like a dynatwist then or a green panel filter with a good cold air feed to the bottom of the box

Would it be essential to feed cold air to the bottom of the box if i got a panel filter as its a direct replacement?

The reason being im not sure the where to get the bits to feed the cold air to the box

You can get the parts from b&q, extractor fan ducting - aluminium. I belive Mart is running a panel filter on his stg2 ibiza.

Like i said in post #20 i think there is loads of different opinions on filters, i know i have read millions of threads about 'which one is the best'

It seems that some people have got on fine with open filters and others havent, just the same as the Dynatwist and many others, everyone has different experiences with everything

I suppose its down to choice really and pot luck :(

I have heard the Jabba filter is good too?

I meant about cones letting in more dirt, not the air thing

I personally run the dyantwist covered but without the cold air feed. Seems to strangle the car on boost.

So im better off leaving the filter business for now, just get the revo first then DV after.

Then when the exhaust is on its way get the miltek cat back system and buy a panel filter.

Sounds like a good plan. The remap will give you the grin for a good while.

Revo's SPS dingle dongle cant turn it on and off yes.

CupraTgirl: all filters let dirt in, but the whole open cone vs closed cone argument is purely based around inlet temps.

if u think the cars alrite but not that fast initially...id get the software first

iv seen it so many times ppl going the whole hog and after spending like £3k its still not wot they wanted so ended up selling the car and losing money on the parts

wont really make much difference having the filter an exhaust fitted before or after

so get the software first and if ur happy with it then u can choose to add all the extra bits later

I'll second acidstrato...

Unless you have bigger and better plans for your cupra and 200bhp will keep you happy then go for the forge dv first (just because of how likely the oe 1 is to die as soon as you turn the boost up) then have it revo'd.. that'll keep a smile on you face for a while.
Unless you gonna be on a constant search for more power the exhaust and filter aren't really gonna make that much difference and the biggest benefit being a better sound.
I'm happy with the sound after just putting a hks open filter on it.......

i also have an open filter, my intake temps are max 20oC on Stock, 30 on remapped with 200bhp, and thats even after idling etc.

All to their own, but i know which i would rather have.. ;)
