Mine has this problem, changing the sensor isn't a problem, but will i need the fault cleared before the it will run okay, or can I clear it by disconnecting the battery for 5 mins (light comes on intermittently as it is)

Was easier than i thought apart from the fact that even feeling the water pipes on the car doesnt make yuo know if the water is cold yet. lol

My car has been running crap for months revs bouncing car cutting out I guess Vag com would have told me the problem but im so glad i changed the sensor.. Car had a green one in it as well to start with....

It now runs fine and i didnt use VAG COM to clear any faults as i dont have it. :(

I take it the fault will just sit in the cars memory now?

dosnt disconnecting the battery clear them?

also if like me the coolant stops pouring out by the time youve plugged it, the bottle of top up coolant you can get from the stealers seems to be the exact amount required to get it back to normal..... how strange is that;)

This part is used by the whole of the VAG group so you could go to your nearest dealer to get it.
059919501A is the number and most decent dealers carry them in stock
GSF also do these if that helps , so you should not have far to travell.

As Sarah's just said GSF have them, just rang my local branch, they said yeah we keep a few in stock all the time, quoted me £18.50+VAT for the sensor (green)

If you are desperate to "clear" the code, you can disconnect the batt for about 10 mins. This wont actually delete the code, it will still be there to read but it wont affect the way the car runs

ie, if it was in limp mode, it would take it out of limp mode but not actually delete the code.

mark :)

Yeah just done that cause I wanted to reset the throttle body aswell, but I think I'll take up m0rk offer though and clear it, as i'm 99% sure its what the problem was, but it won't hurt to check. :D
