Changing stereo but keeping steering wheel controls

i know i'm gonna get shot down for this, but i can't find anything by search as i'm not sure of the terminology i need to use!

Want to change my crappy alana headunit for my JVC one i had in the previous 2 cars, but the leads i have would render the steering wheel controls unusable, and now i've got them for the first time ever i want them to work!

is there a wiring harness i can buy which'll enable me to keep the steering wheel controls or am i doomed to lose them? looks like its another connection i need but unsure of what i need to ask for etc and if it's possible!

not a stupid question at all, it has been covered under the FAQ's so have a look there...

it can be done, i changed my alana stereo for an alpine one and kept the controls, it is an iso wire, i cant find the actual one, but the FAQ thread should have it!
