Changing the Steering Weight

I found this in one post that was posted in here on Seat MK4 forum a while ago;

"Whilst I was out playing with Vag-Com I thought I'd have a go at changing the steering weight.

The procedure ( for those who are interested ) is dead simple.

Open the steering assist module

click recode -07

take note of the value, on mine it was 10111

change it

mine is now 10151

its more work to steer but you get much more back from it. Steering is more positive and less twitchy. I may well knock it down to 141 to ease it up a bit.

All round dead easy mod
''

Anyone has tried? i have a seat ibiza petrol 56 anyone has tried in a petrol version or should it be the same?

@ raul sbd sorry i never got back to you on your other thread. I tried asking the dealer if they could adjust the weight and they played dumb and said that 'there was no problem' with the weight of the steering therefore would not adjust it :(

I changed it like the OP says, but changed it back again because I didn't like it as much. Yes it gives you more feel through corners, but it made parking more labourious. I couldn't be arsed. :lol:

yeah i got that installed, think its the drivers for the cable i cant get working.
Check that the COM port (or technically, virtual COM port) that VCDS/VAG-COM uses matches the COM port that your VCDS USB cable is using.

To check, go into device manager on your laptop and see what COM port you're using (it should be between 1 and 4), then ensure VCDS (in the options section within the program) is using the same COM port number.

Nice one mate got it working and changed the steering weight to 10151, does it go any higher because mine was already on 10131 so doesn’t really feel much difference and still feels to light.
