Performance over style mainly is what I'm interested in the cars in great shape so would like it to look standardish but am looking for inexpensive performance upgrades (not just the go faster kind) parts numbers links to guides etc would be a bonus!

Rear anti roll bar is a very good mod. Can't remember if I got my white line one from awesome gti or dpm performance.

Another convert for a rear arb after having a neupseed one fitted yesterday. I was sceptical of the difference it would make and so was my mechanic. But WOW the ability to corner and get more power down whilst cornering is astounding

Should you do front too if funds available?
Heard, what you do to one end, you should do to the other?
Or does it handle better without the front being stiffened up too much?

My two cents worth I'd say Short Shifter, front to back throw.
Excellent mod imo. The Cupra throw is soooo long.
Mine is now about 35-40mm I think. Super quick changes.
Huge difference, Like a mini remap. :D
