Massive upgrade on my standard altea one just a case of learning how to do everything! Havent figured out changing it from VW to Seat logo yet but pretty simple other than that! A bit more of a manual would of helped me figure it out but trying to find stuff on the net!

So my stereo is causing battery drain! Any suggestions on cheapest and easiest way to fix this?

Was lucky enough to get referred to a member from GTI world who supplies and codes the new canbus units. Have just put this in my car and am hoping not to experience the battery drain again. Also since my earlier post I ended up sending my unit back in favour of an android one from the same company. They were very good in handling the return and getting the other one out to me quickly.

The android unit seems very good so far!

Is it an MTCB unit? (Android 4.4 RK3066/3188) If so - putting Malaysk's ROM on vastly improves the "android experience"

How would I go about doing that, I'm an Android Newb!!! Cheers for all your help, the fascia is a slightly different colour but not enough to warrant changing it at the moment!

Looks like it is - but you can tell if its an MTCB unit by going to Settings/About - it would start MTCB in MCU info. He has a forum over at xda - and its as simple as downloading onto an sd card and updating through recovery. Sounds ominous and slightly nerve-wracking the first time - but really easy.

hi guys i have a 2005 altea 2L TDI and i am looking at changing my stereo and i searching and finding nothing would the 1 in this thred work with steering wheel controls?

Yes - they are CANBUS ready so steering wheel controls work

You would just need to get a facia plate - but Dave from Sere Motors will probably be the best man for a price.

Worth saving for in my opinion, used the sat nav a couple of times now and it really makes a difference. Similarly if you have lots of digital music you can have it all on demand. I shopped around and you won't get any where close to the same features for any where near the money.

Did this kit need the steering wheel adapter cable ? (CTSS0001 ... i think) ?

Just thinking a double din stereo woudl be cool, but with the cable kit + facia + steering wheel cable + stereo .... it could get a little silly.

No, they have a Canbus adapter already that works the Steering Wheel Controls. They fit to all existing wiring.

Roger, and thanks for the reply, i just spotted the same question was asked, no 5 replys ago !!

So can i just clarify , any Xtrons or Parrot stereo (designed for VW) will ahve the CANBus ready. and to double check for my seat altea 06 i will need a canbus update (which someone knows a guy on this forum ... ?? )

Same on mine, it literally plugged and played. Didn't need to alter any wires.
