That's about the best way I can describe it really.

It happens when I pull away in first, or when I reverse, if I lift the clutch with the revs a bit low I get this chirp happen a few times. I also hear the noise faintly if I accelerate in 6th while it has no power, say I've slowed down and the revs are 1k, if I apply a touch of throttle, I'll hear it quietly.

It mainly happens when setting of calmly in in first, or in reverse. It doesn't happen if I set of with any inda pace, just when pootling about.

Thought I'd ask! A mechanic did mention in passing it could be PAS related?

Oops, that doesn't sound cheap :(

Car had a new clutch about 10k ago, will find out the paper work and see of Fly was done at the same time.

Any tests I can do to confirm?

Just been researching DMF failures and to be honest it isn't shoring any of the symptoms, just this chirping noise.

It's just if I try and pull away with the car at say 12-1500rpm.

Hi Wolvo-Oleg.
I'm having the exact same problem with my LCR at the moment.
Took it to a garage and was told its the fan belt tensioner but the problem
still remains.the chirp does eventually get louder over time, mines been doing this for a couple of months now.
I had my clutch and flywheel changed 2yrs ago so I'm pretty sure that won't be the issue( I hope!! )
Keep us posted if you manage to find the fault.

Anyone else got any idea's??

That's worrying as I've only done around 10k since replacing the
clutch and flywheel.genuine VW parts aswell.
Why would this happen?

I found something sounding similar on a beemer forum which was the pulley tensioner, I know its a long shot but fingers crossed

Well I hope it does turn out to be some sort if tensioner or bearing.not looking forward
to replacing a 2yr old clutch and flywheel. The only problem is that the chirp can only be heard while driving
and will be difficult to pin-point.

Yer mate exactly! I might just adapt my driving style to accommodate it

Traffic light grand prix everywhere haha

You're all completely wrong!
It's a budgie stuck under the accelerator! :p :wtf:
Every time you press down to pull off it squashes the budgie causing it to chirrup!
Why Is everyone else so dumb? :ban:
Ak

Haha,Wolvo, traffic light Grand Prix is the only way to stop it annoying the **** out of me!!
Hope you get to the bottom of it and keep us posted if manage to fix it.

1Ms have a DMF?

As for your problem, it's a common fault where birds get caught under the scuttle panel. Rat poison should sort it out for you.

Shot in the dark but clutch release bearing? You said it does it when you lift the clutch a little or when crusingg in 6th

Mk4 ibiza cupra suffer from this when crusing in 4th/5th gear as well as when coming off the clutch

Just a thought

Cheers lads

Erm, basically, say your pulling away, and you don't give it enough power, that's when it chirps. Like when you pull away, don't accelerate enough and the revs drop to around tickover, that's when you hear it, just a couple of chirps until you give it a bit of throttle.

It's kinda hard to explain, I'm not too good with words! Looking at DMF failures though it isn't showing any of the symptoms at all.
