Hi,

I bought a 13 plate Leon FR 2.0 Diesel around 3 and a half months ago, and its been great so far.

However, last week, the climate control seemed to stop working and would not blow hot air on monday morning on my drive to work, but was then fine monday afternoon on my drive back. It was fine the next couple of days but then did the same on the thursday I believe. Another time it was working fine on a drive, and then about 1 hour into driving, it started blowing cold air, regardless of the speed or temp i set.

I booked it in to the dealer to have them fix it, as it is still covered under consumer rights, but of course it was working perfectly when they looked at it and there was apparently nothing they could do.

This morning it was blowing cold air again, but at a set of traffic lights i turned the engine off and on again (I had tried this a couple of times before, to no avail), and this time I heard what sounded like a reasonably loud metallic clunking noise i think directly behind the centre console. After this, the climate control worked a little bit better, as in it was not blowing freezing cold air, but still didn't seem to respond to me upping the temperature at all.

I can't really take it back into the garage, unless it fully fails or I know what is wrong because they will just say they can't do anything again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gerry :)

Is your engine up to temp (eg...at least 3-4 bars) when you are attempting to get hot air?

My previous Leon would take easilly 10 mins city driving before I can get any hot air at all. Approximately same time the engine temp reaches 3-4 bars.

Just looking that you mentioned Mon morning (cold start) no hot air, but return leg there was...even if car is unused 3-4 hours, it will still heat up a lot quicker than cold mornings.

Although this was the manual air con system with temp turned to the red.

May I ask does it NOT blow hot air when the engine temp has 3-4 bars?

Yeah, it woud usually take till I get on the motorway (around 10 mins) to get hot air coming out regardless. Yeah, engine temp gets to 4 bars i believe (middle of the dial) and still no hot air. Both oil and coolant temps stay ~90.

My drive to work is roughly 1 hour and 15 mins and it still blows cold air by the end.

I have tried it on different temps and with climate control set to HI and it still blows cold air even when the engine temp is 3-4 bars.

Cheers,

Gerry

Is your external temp sensor ok, i.e reading correctly? If that packs up the climate has a wobbly.

Yeah, outside temp reading is correct (usually sitting between -2 and +3 just now :( )
