On my LCR if the outside temperature drops below 3oC the AC doesn't work is that normal or can you get it set so you turn it on and off when you want? i know its cold at the minute but it does help keep the car from steaming up...

if anyone can help it would be very grateful

I'm going to be one of those annoying people who suggests using the search facility on the site. There have been hundreds of threads on this! it's perfectly normal, and there is not a way of changing it, its a design feature to stop the A/C from braking in freezing conditions.

I had the same problem and started a thread about this but the AC wont turn on when its too cold but it should just switch on on its own when it is warm enough. The misting problem i have bought this moisture pack from Halfords which has helped a considerable amount as i had a leak in the car which misted the window up to the point where it wouldnt clear.
