Closure Of Watford And New Southgate Branches

Trade press had them down as in trouble, but I didn't think the whole group was in danger, just a few dealers

Well im totally shocked!!! I used to work there as a technician up until october last year, It was always busy at both dealers. I feel for all the people who worked there and for the owner of the buisness, wouldn't wish that on anyone. Why did they close down?

seat watford cease trading WARNING

i found out today from SEAT CUSTOMER SERVICE that seat in watford both cars and service/parts have ceased trading as of last friday evening...
which isn't good news if you have a new car or parts waiting...
just like me who had new clocks fitted on thursday which appear to be wrong

no one knows why or if anything will be back in watford so st albans is taking all the watford work at present...
so if you wonder why no one is answering the phone it's cause no one is there..

Do you not have a Audi or VW dealers that will do the work? There's no SEAT dealer in Ipswich and I always assumed that I could just take my car to a Audi/VW dealer? I guess that'd make too much sense though. :'(.

i tried vw/audi when i had an immob problem and both makes said only do their own cars....

Would have thought the St Albans branch would be closer for you (than Watford)?
Also means you get to raz up the 'private road' .. *COUGH* ... AKA, M10 strip!

Closest dealers in all directions is Letchworth, Kingsbury and St Albans.

Alternatively, i know that Skoda next door to the Watford branch doesn't mind taking on the extra work. The techs there are VW and Seat experianced.

I drove past New Southgate Seat last week and they only had a few cars on the forecourt. I just thought they were changing the display! I am quite shocked that they're closing as they always seemed busy when i went there.

Luckily for me a new part centre has opened about 5 mins from my house, they serve Audi Seat VW and Skoda

Felt a bit of a twonk yesterday morning turning up and the place being shut. No signs up any more just a bit of paper to call seat helpline.

Apparently there was going to be a deal with coupers of st albans but that fell through and as seat own a stake, they wound it up, plunging it into administration. Or so I heard.

Does anyone know if coupers in st albans are any good?

i use to go southgate one alot - speaking to the someone behind the counter - now that i think about it, not too suprised about it closing down judging by the way it was run

only diff so far that i know of is ordering parts ,mark at watford used to order the parts for you then you paid when they came in...

thats part of the group where i've bought all of my last 3 seats. I only just had a service done last week. Got to say that im not unsurprised as lately, their customer service had gone downhill and when collecting my car the service desk was like little britain " computer says no" and devoid of anything. I did ask what they would give me on a trade in on my altea but they just could not be bothered, guesss the staff knew what was going on.

It was only 5 mins down the road from me but i guess future work is going to cheshunt-as they have a vgood reputation. wouldnt take my car to Coupers if they paid me. Not keen on M1 autos unless they have drastically changed all personel since my last visit a few years ago.

shame to see it go as a few years ago, they were fresh and eager to get established and the customer service and sales were excellent and they were friendly.

As for southgate and Watford closing we have been handed most of there service work

Was trying to get hold of Watford for a service for about 5 days before I saw this post last weekend and confirmed what I was suspecting. Wasn't sure who to take my car to for its 20k - wasn't sure about St Albans and def not Aylesbury, so tried M1 - very helpful guy on phone. Booked in for Monday and will feedback soon.
