I for one am very sad to see them go. I've had both my cars serviced/modded/fixed at the Watford branch over the last 4 years, and every time I received good service. They were the sole reason I considered buying my second Seat, as the reliability of the first was shocking until they fixed it (previously I went to another local dealer, who never found the main issue).
Stuart and the gang did not deserve this. :(

Was trying to get hold of Watford for a service for about 5 days before I saw this post last weekend and confirmed what I was suspecting. Wasn't sure who to take my car to for its 20k - wasn't sure about St Albans and def not Aylesbury, so tried M1 - very helpful guy on phone. Booked in for Monday and will feedback soon.

Well, all I can say is very impressed. I had a couple of niggly things which I wanted looking at. Mechanic came out to car and went through my list and confirmed what they'd do. Car feels a lot better for service. Polite and thorough on service desk, book stamped (ie not forgotten as have read about other dealers!) and car returned cleaned inside and out.

I would recommend...! :)

I was as shocked as everyone on here...... I used to work there and it was a great place, very busy, then some staff started leaving and it went a bit down hill. sorry to see its closed tho.....

Does anyone know if coupers in st albans are any good?

DONT TO IT !!! I bought my LCR from them. Great car until I did a tyre change and found the spare had been curbed. Called Coupers to see if they knew anything about this. Sales guy was busy so they put me through to the Service Desk, who told me the only damage reported on the car was the nearside front wheel on checkin. Guess the fix was to hide it in the boot.

To be fair, they gave me a new one (gray rather than silver) after throwing my toys.

I had some warranty work done by them last year and found Stuart, James et al to be very helpful and professional. It's a shame this happened at such a seemingly busy dealership.

As for VW dealers, the one in Watford is a real jobsworth, so I use another elsewhere. Skoda or an independent garage might be worth a try if you dont want to go too far.

I agree - I always found the Watford service staff really helpful and accomodating.
I didn't realise that Watford service had closed down until I went to check them out last night to find out why they hadn't returned my phone calls!
Yes - their phone still rings and invites you to leave a message for someone to call you back. :-o

I am now taking my chance with a 50k service at St Albans dealer - any comments on them?
Probably be my last service on this car before it goes - Not to be replaced by a SEAT.

John.

A quick search revealed iffy feedback about Coopers (sp?) but thats who Seat UK recommended I go to in future... My car is a few years old so I dont really care about dealer service history anymore.

The Seat CS rep did give me the reason for the closure but it was vague. I am not sure who pulled the plug because the New Southgate garage, its sister garage, has gone too..
