Been a while since I have posted on here and could not reset my login details for the life of me, so a new post...

MK2 2.0TFSI - car rattles after driving when stopped and in neutral, once the clutch is pressed in this stops. (it comes back when the clutch is released), also if I let the clutch out super gently into neutral it can avoid the noise returning.

Fairly sure this is the thrust bearing but I am nervous of hauling the box apart, replacing the bearing and it not curing the problem.

The car has a Sachs clutch which has done £7k, but I cannot tell what type or if its SMF as the receipt was pre my ownership and is vague. Would the OEM thrust bearing be compatible with all uprated clutches?

Thoughts welcomed.

A rattle could be the clutch pipe has come unclipped under the battery.

If its got a single mass flywheel it will chatter at idle, noticable by turning the air con on and off
I had darkside smf sach kit on my cupra that ruined the input shaft bearing on my gearbox it sounded like a rotating pestal and morter.

It just sounds like a rotten an old tractor on idle, more noticably than it did when I got it a couple of years ago.

Hi, recently just bought a 2007 2.0 TDI FR170 and noticing the same sort of noise, chattering when clutch is up, still there slightly when pressed...... I can feel a slight vibration through the pedal too.... does this sound like the Flywheel??
Cheers
