mines started in the same way.

only 5th/6th at first - the higher gears have more load

it only gets worse after that im afraid.

Warwickshire once.
In cold conditions you may find your car is running slighlty more power than usual, the 6th gear being the one that puts the biggest load onto the engine may be slighlty damp/cold and therefore slip due to the extra power/lower grip.

I suggest using the other 5 gears to move upto a speed were it is suitable to use 6th.

For a Leon Cupra 2001 could anyone point me towards the LUK/GSF replacement parts that i've seen mentioned in other threads? (part numbers?)
I've looked on EuroCarParts and GSF and I can't be sure i'm seeing the right parts (DMF is £330+ on ECP) as people have been saying lower prices.

Garage have quoted me ~£1000 all in to have clutch and DMF done and on a car of this age and value that's just absurd.
Are these DMFs really that bad? Are they easy to diagnose as being badly worn once the 'box is off?

To the threadstarter mine showed a slight sign of slip in 6th then one week later it suddenly died completely.

Not like the old Primera, had a years warning for that!

Mine has just started slipping in 6th. Luckily I'm a mechanic so I can do it myself still annoying though. Any good garage should have a guide for movement allowance in the flywheel. Mind out as most garages say it needs a flywheel just to get a extra sale. Been a mechanic for 2 years now done about 30 vw clutchs and only ever fitted about 2 flywheels. We keep all the parts we have replaced for the customer to see so ask for them to keep it and I'll get the movement numbers up so you can personally check it and make sure you haven't been done!

Thanks for that, that's very good to know.
