Coil over help !

Hi , i have just got my fk high sport coil overs and there no instructions with them! All i want to know is how low can you losen the 2 ajjustable rings at the bottom as i want to see how it looks nice and low. Also if some ppl got pictures and can say how much they unscrewed theres by! thanks guys

did you not get the tool in the kit to do it? (2 hook looking things) spray also?

Thanks for that 1 forbez! Yeah i got the 2 tools and spray but its all in german is the spray for all of it ?? How far are your rings off the bottom david

give it a good spray before you adjust them
gettin new tyres saturday so if forbez hasnt gone into his magic wardrobe to get his camera out il get a pic

No luck last night soz mate,

Use the spray on the threaded sections.

its not rocket science

use the c spanners to loosen the adjustable rings then just use your hands to wind em down, use a measuring tape or a ruler and measure from the bottom of the thread to the lower ring to work out how much you've dropped it and to get the other side level. then use the c spanners again just to lock to the rings together

I was told the lubricant spray is only there for future use, its adviced to put it on every now and then to prevent the large round disc type things which unscrew from seizing.

I measured my coil overs when i first put them on to ensure they're lowered the same...the back was 55mm from the bottom thread, and the front was 45mm - i think!!

Those steel hook type things are used to adjust the height, when the coil over isn't on the car you should be able to adjust the height of the coil by hand, but when its under load, you'll need both those hook tpye spanners which lock into the cut out grooves to adjust the height.

Let me know if there's anything else you need...i have some photo's at home on me laptop of when i fitting myn.

Since then, i have messed with it some more and lowered it a little more, I can't really go no lower now as i can't get off the drive

Well i got a few pics today not too good but will do. It not a great deal lower as i still wanted to drive with out hearing scraping every where and it also had some rubbish lowering springs on that guy b4 put on ( so so bouncy) but now its a nice firm ride

Those wheels look huuuuuuuuge!

I put my coil overs on about 2months back, and ive never had myn aligned!!
Didn't really see the need.

Every body says them wheels look massive lol there only 17's Wish i brought some nice 16's split rims though! owell get saving! Im goin to see how my bumper going on today hopefully if my grills etc come as i need to drop off the 2 covers for bumper.

You need it to be aligned correctly as when you put the new shocks on the front it is held on by 2 bolts, these bolts adjust the camber and the wheels and if its not correct the you will find those nice expensive tyres you have will need replacing very quickly indeed as it will either run the outer or inner edges off,

Yeh i understand that. Really should get it done...i did the camber adjustment just by looking with the naked eye, which is not good i guess!!

Fitted coil overs to my mates Cupra R about 12 months ago, again we adjusted the camber by vision, and he's never had a problem and neither have i. If the car was major pulling to one side etc, i'd take it to be 4 wheel aligned.

lol yeah i tried that when i took my struts off as i was checking for a noise and did the same, but i marked them with chalck and put the back on in the same place, i put it on the 4-way aligner and oh how wrong was i, but seriously i would get it done, will cost around an hours labour at a garage so £60+ v.a.t aprox but get it done by someone who can do it right, will really save you on tyres in the long run mate.
