Coil Warranty ?

Hi all,
One of my coil packs has given up today of all days !! No seat dealerships open for repairs today !! I did a search on here and read that Seat increaced the warranty to 5 years on coil packs,is this true ? My car Leon cupra is just over 3 years old so just out of its main warranty
Can anyone comfirm that the coil packs are covered now for 5 years ?
If they are not does anybody know how much a single coilpack is ? and how easy is it to fit, how do they come off ? Its the coilpack on number 2 cylinder (looking at the engine from left to right).

Any help or guidance would be very greatfully accepted :worship:

Thanx Si

32 quid from the dealers... I got 2 for a tenner from e-bay.

VAG specialists on here do them cheaper. VAG Tech do them for 20.

They are under 5 year warranty but I can never be bothered to book it in and take time off work etc.

They are really easy to fit, first 3 are just a case of pulling out and putting the new one in. The 4th is under a plastic valve (N something or other) which has to be unscrewed to reach the coil pack.

I know I'm not alone buying up cheap ones and keeping them in the car as a spare.

Thanx cupraUK

I will get in touch with seat dealership next wednesday when they are back at work and try and get it done there and then !! Is it ok to drive the car to the garage ? its about 5 miles away from me.
And all i have to do is pull straight upwards on the coil to remove it ?

Yes but take care removing the connector block. Use a screwdriver to pull the tag backwards.

5 miles should be ok. The only problem is the unspent fuel in your cat. Not good for it so don't go far.

A mile from home this morning and I suddenly got all the symptoms of coil pack failure. I headed off for David Penman Seat in Darlington and arrived at 8:30.

Twenty five minutes later I was on my way with a coil pack replaced (under the 5 year warranty). Excellent service as usual.

You don't get that kind of service in Milton Keynes, they told me I had to book my car in for "tests" and could not fit me in for a few days. Just bought one myself and got on my way.

Just spoke to my local Seat garage and they are refusing to replace the coilpack under warranty even though I've explained that the coilpacks are under a 5 year warranty (my car's an 03 reg). Is there anything I can do or do I have to just give in and pay their ridiculous price?
