Coilover height.

Hi,

I'm looking into the possibility of getting some coilovers (probably AP), and was wondering what height people are running theirs at? I want to get a nice balanced look between front and rear, but also need some clearance as the car is a daily driver.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a height which will be a good compromise between looks and handling, and will also allow enough clearance for the sump on things like speed humps etc?

Thanks. :)

most people drop the rear as low as it'll go, or even take the adjuster cups out, then set the fronts to match. My FK's rub over bigger undulations but i get over speedbumps etc fine. Do you have a petrol or diesel? Diesel sumps are much lower...

I have AP on my Fabia VRS.

I orginally ran it without the rear blue adjuster, however it wasnt very even as bringing the front down in line with the rear would have meant the sump guard was about 1.5 inches from the floor.

So I have put the rear blue adjuster back in and it sits level, although there is still about 0.75 of an inch gap between tyre and arch.

It also seemed to be bouncy without the rear adjuster in.

Looking at st10587's thread, on page 13 of his coilovers when he first fitted them, thats how low mine is, any lower than that and you're asking for sump issues

when i first fitted them they were to low on the front imo as in was rubbing on every bump and the sump was looooooooow to the ground:blink: so i raised mine up by about 20ish mm or about one thread on the coilovers and now it sits lovely

Your car looks great in your readers ride thread. [B)]

How much lower than standard do you reckon it is now that you've adjusted the front up 20mm? was the 60mm drop you posted above before or after you put the front up?

Cheers

Thanks i try my best:D

its about 60mm lower then a standard car as it stands now. when i first fitted the coilovers it was about 60mm on the rear and 80mm on the front. you also have to remember that the ibiza sit rear end high as standard and they will after lowering unless you run the front higher to level it out. mines not 100% level when its standing but i have to consider i take rear passangers and bike on my towbar so if i run the rears to low they might rub

I've got a set of FK Konigsports on my Ibiza. I've dropped the front 60mm and the rear 80mm. The car now sits level...On the standard suspension the rear was 20mm higher than the front. I can easily get over large speed humps. Here's how it looks now,

Your car's also looking awesome Altech!

Thank you both for the replies and the advice. I hardly ever carry rear passengers or have a boot full etc, so I think I'll be going for the 60-80 F:R drop as it looks spot on.

Just need to save a few more pennies now. :p
