As the 50K has been broken on the car it seems the cold morning are becoming tougher on the car

Any suggestions on how to improve the cold starts. last winter I could start it with just clutch in and turn the ignition now it struggles and needs a prod of the accelerator pedal to get it going.

Maybe your battery is past it's best, they tend to go after a few years when the weather turns cold.

Is the engine turning over fast enough when you try and start it ?

thats been my initial thought as it does seem to turn slow but once its started even if I turn off straight away it start straight away the second time so can be the battery as it should be slow as well I would have thought.

I suppose couple of tanks of redex would help

Maybe try some diesel engine additive. I added some to mine, recommended by a mate who owns a local garage, and the car is noticably snappier generally.

While i havent had issues with cold morning starts, mine has done nearly 45k, so maybe worth a go.

Im tending to let the coils warm up for 10-15 seconds.... Plus letting her tick over for at least 2 mins before going anywhere at the mo....

She has a weird "blip" of throttle on cold mornings now after the Upsolute... nothing mental, but I notice a blip to 1.5k for a second as I start her.

As for redex ... or rather "blueX" ... tried it a few times... never noticed much difference. I think the secret is GOOD diesel, rather than supermarket stuff. There is a reason why it is cheaper.

another additive i swore by was millers power plus , until i ran out last weekend then i had in tn i went back to redex that i had lying around , i swear my car is less smoky this week than b4 , further investiagtion required me thinks

I have started to use shell diesel atm, but havent noticed anything major performance/economy wise.

I have added one of the valvoline additives to mine, cant remember the exact product name

Slimjim, that doesnt sound good going to 1.5k erratically. I have just had mine revo'd and havent noticed anything different starting wise, so what you are experiencing doesnt sound right.

letting it tick over for 2 mins doesnt help too much, will just take longer to warm up, allow it to idle for 30 secs or so then get driving.

And in the cold temperatures in the winters my 110 has always done a little blip when starting so yours sounds the same, nothing to worry about there.

I know they don't warm up at tick over sssstew :) but good idea to point that out.

I let her tick over while I sort out my seatbelt, tunes, mirrors, heat and all that.

Speaking of which. She did a funny thing the other day.

It was VERY cold... and being impatient, I turned on the heat to full whack and pushed the screen button. only about 10 seconds after I had started the car (Bad idea, I know)

And the car went mad! She started beeping at me (a NEW beep) and the temp guage light was flashing. So, I tuend the engine off, turned all the air settings to off, started her again and everythign was fine.

Was that just because she was saying "Oi! I know you are cold, but im REALLY cold and if I dont warm up, I might damage myself VERY badly" ?

dont see why it should have done that, muddy always used to start his beeza and fully load the system. Try it again to see if you can re-create it.
I usually put the rear screen on and the stereo and the lights... loading the system makes it warm up quicker.... right?

If it happens again I will keep it on and take a video clip... :cam:
