Currently well jealous ov a mates car (Mark 5 Gti) whos headlights turn on when he unlocks his car. Looks well cool with xenon headlights.

Is it possible to fit the "coming home headlight function" after buying the car?

If so has anyone done it before or knows how to do it?

Many thanks

Coming Home lights feature should already work as standard - mine has the leaving home lights feature enabled via VAG Com which means when you unlock the car your headlights come on.
Mine doesn't have Auto Headlights, so only does this when I've left the headlights switched on when I've left the car.

I'm going to set up the Leaving Home light via Vag-Com when i get my cable.

You can change the length the Coming Home lights stay on for then they go off. The side lights make your car beep if you leave them on (dont know how long they stay on for)

All lights turn off together at the time length you select. I only had the coming home enabled by default. to get my lights to turn on when I unlocked the car I had to get that turned on via vag-com. Midland VW kindly did this while I was having it serviced as well as turning off the seatbelt bing and turning off my rear wiper.

Mine only turn off... they don't come on when I open... any ideas why? 56 model pre facelift perhaps?

Mine's the same.

You'll need to get the Leaving Home function enabled via VAG-COM or by your local friendly dealer (!)

You dont have auto headlights but the lights come on when you unlock the car? I tried this in VAGCOM and failed as I dont have auto lights either. What settings in VAGCOM do you change? The guide Dan did didnt seem to work on my car.

Well the "leaving home"function is at long last working on my car too now :)

What you need to do in addition to adjusting Bit 5 in in Byte 1 for the Long Coding for Module 9 is adjust the time setting in module 46, channel 2 for leaving home lights. It was set to 0 as default on mine, but it has been adjusted to 40 now to be the same as the coming home setting :)

Cheers also to Dan :)

i'd like to change a few settings but dont think that justifies me spending $300 on the cable, I suppose Seat will do it for a few quid.

Dan's the man :)

It's a really handy feature because it gets used all the time during these dark months -

Dark on the way to work - Dark on the way home :(

And charge you an arm an a leg if they actually can do it. Why not go to a meet in London and have the likes of Dan do it for you?

I think if you went into a Seat service department, and told them you'd like the Leaving Home feature enabled on your car, you just get a very blank look unfortunately....

Put a request up in the VAGCOM requests section on here. You may get it done for a 6 pack of beer or something :)
