The ipod touch and iPhone are capable of connecting to speaker etc. via bluetooth and streaming music through this channel. I'm wondering as anyone tried it with the bluetooth in their mk2?

I'm sure it's possible though, but it would have to be going through as though it was a phone call. I'll do a little experimenting with the equipment in work, it would just require an app to make it think it was a phone and pair with the car, then ping the stereo with a spoof call and with the connection established the music could be transferred through. I'll give it a go now :)

I use it with the Media System 2.1 - you can stream music or even the audio track for videos - but I don't think the standard Bluetooth module for connecting phones as a car kit will allow such audio streaming. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though! :)

As far as I know you need the media system to stream audio over bluetooth (A2DP). You can't just do it on the handsfree.

I didn't have a ipod in work yesterady to try it, but I did get it working with android. So I'll get the app up once I've made it a bit user friendly. All its doing is pairing with the stereo and making it thing a call is coming through, so you have to 'answer' it then it'll open the native music player on the phone and away you go. Only down side is you've as much control over the audio as you do in a call, but still full functionallity over it on the phone

I'll give it a go on the ipod today if we've any jailbroken ones lying about

The Bluetooth module in the Leon doesn't support A2DP (my wikipedia link was removed but just google 'wiki a2dp') only HFP (Hands Free Profile) so unfortunately it's a no-go. What you could do is get a bluetooth A2DP receiver to plug into the aux jack but they're quite hard to find in rechargable form (most are mains powered) and you would then not have controls from the headunit/steering wheel for changing tracks etc.

Hope this helps - or at least clears things up a bit.

I'm not using the A2DP protocol, I'm essentially playing the audio through a phone call placed with the system. I havent got round to building the app for iOS but I'll be posting the android version up soon
