Coolant After-run Pump

Just a quick question, when then afterun pump is working can you see coolant dropping in to the header tank through the top hose?

Just trying to work out if my pump actually works as I can see any evidence of it apart from the noise.

You can feel it shifting the water around if you hold the pipes when it runs
Mines so wiered only works now and again normally when cold and not needed

But it doesn't push it enough to come out of the top header tank pipe?

Mine started to do this, then eventually packed up altogether.

Looked in the fuse box on the battery and the fuse was melted, gave it a wiggle and the pump started working so i put a new fuse in, common problem with this fuse melting!

Not sure if you see it through the tank but as above you can definately feel it in the pipe

Mine got really noisey a few months ago but now runs sweet as a nut.

Mine doesn't work at all either, got the same problem with the melted fuse.

Mines packed in along time ago, Got a pump from an Ex police car ( omega im sure ), Then the fuse melted, Changed that for one from a Octavia

Do they get blocked at all do you know?

I would bloody hope they dont get blocked with anything as its pumping coolant round the turbo, Why not take it off and have a look at it, There pretty cheap from the scrappies if its broken.

I took my old one appart and it was filled up with what seemed like fine metalic dust, so I think they do wear out,
This is actually inside the motor not in the pipework btw

Anyone know what size the pipework is to and from the pump?

the inlet is a reducing pipe, dont know the dimms, I need a new one as mine has has been intimate with the fan lol
