Coolant leak

Howdy all!

A quick question on behalf of my mum!

Her car has been losing coolant (from somewhere in front of the FOS wheel).....is this a common fault, ie end caps on the rad, cracking hoses or leaking expansion tank?
The local garage (who I reckon are useless) cannot find the leak!

Suggestions for a good garage on the south side of Glasgow?

Her car is a 54 plate FR TDI.

BUMP.
I take it everyone is at a loss?
No garages that you'd recommend?

Take it to a garage to pressure test the system, the leak will be obvious them.

I'm taking it to a different garage, the previous one did that and was at a loss to where the escape is.

By off side i take it that's the drivers? if so the header tank is on that side and there are two pipes that go to it, the small one you can see on the top and the main one underneath that goes to the rad, it might pay to look at that, might even be the header tank.

AND THE ANSWER IS.......
nothing more sinister than a burst rad....which is apparently uncommon!
