this is my concern and may be the very thing that stops me buying my new Cupra
.
I live in Fife in Scotland, I only have the option of 3 dealers to take my car to and they're all 25 - 40 miles away. None of the dealers are all that close to a train station or anything in their respective towns. If, for whatever reason they can't (or won't) give me a courtesy car and can't drop me off / pick me up from the train station I would have the following scenario:
1. drive the car to delaers.
2. get taxi from dealer to train station (fare could be £5 - £10.)
3. train home (f*ck knows what a return ticket would be from dealers town, let's say £10, could be more.)
then a repeat of the above in reverse to collect car. Putting my car in for a day could cost me £25 - £40 in travelling if no courtesy car available. Obviously this ain't a massive issue for routine services (once / twice a year) and maybe one or two warranty visits a year, but should my car have more than its fair share of probs the above could become very boring ... and expensive
.
perhaps the biggest thing over and above is, if no car was available for me, I'd probably have to use a day off from work for each visit ... problem car means my entire holiday allocation could be used up
.
obviously if I raise these concerns with a dealer they will very probably say something along the lines of it won't be an issue, we'll give you a loan car or drive you to train station to ensure I buy a car. The reality of what then happens could be very different.
This is what's f*cking me off, Leon is my fave car above all else, but the potential inconvenience of multiple dealer visits would be a prob, especially using days holidays every time. And before you start moaning at me saying stuff like small price to pay for a great car the reality of having to do it could really get you down.
