Just bought my Leon Cupra R its got cruise fitted & talking to my mate he said he never saw one with cruise before unless it had been mapped??

I said that but he had never seen one that had cruise & not had a map, Apparently normally its the APR map when its fitted
cruise was not fitted to LCRs as standard.
its a fairly simply retro fit and can be done for £150-£200.
the APR software does or did allow people to change between maps via the cruise control, and as a result many people who had the APR map had it fitted at the same time as they offered this as an extra for reasonable money.
Other popular maps do not have this facility to use the cruise control, (possibly APR being an american company and perhaps cruise is fitted to just about all cars over there). Revo for example have the SPS controller while others do not have the facility to turn on/off or adjust the map.
But dont think that because it has cruise it must have APR, as many people fit cruise independantly of mapping.
im just wondering, how many LCRs has 'your mate' seen? how many of those were remapped? how many had cruise fitted? and how many of those remapped with cruise were remapped with APR software? i suspect his opininon may be based on very few cars.. i might be wrong, perhaps he works as a cruise/remapper inspector
but anyway, getting to the point of your thread, you have not said but i presume you want to know if its been remapped or not?
If it does have APR software then you could try changing map, however it may have been 'locked' and you would need to 4 digit code.
But it may not be locked so you could try the procedure for changing map.
Ignition on, slide the cruise button to 'ON' and hold it there, if it has APR software and is not locked then a yellow light on the dash should start to flash after a few seconds.
If it does this then its been remapped. (single flash stock, double remapped, triple flash 98 ron)
If nothing happens its either not APR remapped or its locked.
Can you ask previous owner?
Otherwise i cant see anyway to check other than taking to an APR dealer.

My LCR has got Cruise control and its completely standard, i was told that it was an optional extra when bought new, someone correct me if i am wrong!

Never driven a standard R or a mapped one so I wouldnt know the difference, Ill do some boost logs & see what it shows, At the moment im just happy going from 180 bhp up to the 225 in the Cupra
Spot on! I had it as an option when I bought the LC and believe the same option was available for the R's
