Now obviously the tdi is very quick for a diesel and economical etc etc but .......

how does a petrol 180 bhp cupra leon do on the petrol consumption

i travel 70 miles round trip for work and thinkin about a cupra for my next car once i have sold my cosworth and diesel pug as babys and mortgages ruin ur life of toys ,lol

i know the cupra is a 6 speed box , does this really help for extra econemy once on motorway as thats mainly what my drive is to edinburgh
and is a normal tdi leon a 6 speed or 5 speed if its not a cupra tdi ??

thanks for replies

colin

Cupra is going to be not far off a Cupra R for economy, in other words if you have a moderate right foot you arent going to see over 32mpg much, if i did 70 miles a day i wouldnt get the petrol. I do 50 miles a day and that swayed me to TDi, once remapped they are 190bhp anyway. Bt of course you can map a cupra or FR petrol to 210bhp. And yes the FR and Cupra TDi's are 6 speed. The normal TDi 110/130 ones are not i dont beleive.

im pretty sure the 130 leons are 6 speed, my 130 beeza is...

If your doing 70 miles a day, you would be probably looking at £5 a day in fuel, £10 if you have the petrol...

I drive a 130 tdi Leon (they do have 6-speed gearboxes).

Went to wales recently and they computer said i averaged 57.7 mpg over the 370 miles there and back (in reality, probably 52-53mpg).

Friend has a 180 cupra and he gets around 35mpg on the motorway.

Hope that helps.

My Dad had an Octavia RS Estate which has the less fuel economy friendly 5 speed box and he still used to regularly get 35-38 mpg if driven sensibly! 6 spd should hopefully help this further, all depends how heavy your foot is!

Thanks peeps

lol, some of u moan about fuel i see

try lurking around in a stage 3 tuned sapphire cosworth ,drive it hard and ur talking 8-9 mpg and sensible 25 thereabouts ,lol but theres nothin puts a smile on ur face better at the time ,lol

my cupra diesel at around 200 bhp,

52mpg on long run
43mixed driving and around town
mid to high 30's when thrashed.

i do around 40 miles per day to work and i get, on average, 280-300 miles per tank of v power with revo stage 1. according to the trip computer i get between 28-30 mpg on average.

less if i spank it.

In my LCR I get about 300 miles on a tank of fuel. This used to be about 350 miles in my old LC. This is a combination of A & B roads and some motorway driving.

My FR tdi is remapped and i drive 500 miles a week (100 miles round trip each day) and find i'm filling up every monday morning/sunday night depending on any weekend miles etc.
Performance is fantastic and taking my time on A and B roads i can see 50mpg.

i have the leon fr tdi and have never got less than 520 miles to a tank. I don't thrash it everywhaere, but then i don't hang around either!!
personally driving 70 miles a day i would go for the tdi, and if you want more power, get a remap!! hope this helps.
