Hi

I am having a boost problem with my Leon. For some reason its only boosting to 5 psi! (normal goes up to about 20) Its happened a few times in past few months and I've got it fixed but it normally comes back with in a week or two! Since the problem come back I've been disconnecting the battery Which brings the boost back but only for about 30mins!! Engine power is all good but I've run out of money and patience! its been into TSR 4 times in the past couple of weeks and I've spent about £600 on a number of different things.

Its had new sensors in exhaust, the air in take, the engine two more in the throttle and one in the cultch, a new fuel pump a full service and a few other bits and bobs but still having problems!!!

Has this happened to anyone else or does any know how to help?!?!?!?

Any help would be good please.
Thanks

Have you made sure that you don't have a boost leak? Is it constantly low on boost pressure or is it every now and then that the pressure drops? Your best bet is to check your hose from your recirc to your block has no wear or tear around it and has no hissing noises from either end.

If thats ok, get yourself a fault code reader from fleabay for a tenner and plug her in (just under ciggy lighter) and you'll soon be told what problems you've got.

Thanks mate I've ordered a fault code reader so fingers crossed!!! and it just hits 5 psi then just stops like it hit a brick wall! but when I disconnect the battery and it works again it feels fine. and i'll stick my head in tomorrow and listen for any hisses!

Hi mate. 5 psi is limp mode, you don't need to disconnect the battery usually, just turn the ignition off and back on again. As said above you need to read the fault codes to find out why it's going into limp mode in the first place though.

ur better of going to a vw or seat specialist such as awesome and or amd in essex they sorted my car out had a few issue the the beginning.

the fault codes that came up where for the fuel system (to intermittent) and a air intake system cancelled them and they came back next day. also its been going into TSR which is a performce VAG specialist but still keeps happening!!

What are the code numbers?

Does it start ok? idle ok? does it reach 90 on the coolant gauge and stay there? other than only hitting 5psi does it run nicely?

Need to know the codes as said above.

Hi codes are 17536 and 16795. when it starts up its fine I don't hit boost before the temp gage comes off the bottom. It normal takes about 10 minits to get to 90 and once there it stays there. Boost is normally alright for the first 5-10 miles then goes in to limp mode. Its going back into TSR in a week so would be good to fine a solution before then.

Thanks

16795 is SAI fault which i dont think will have anything to do with the boost

17536 is long term fuel trim, just a quick google search brings up numerous possibilitys , MAF sensor , split pipes / vacuum lines

you need to get the engine covers off and check every hose theres some under the inlet as well which need checked as they perish and break

also read this to give you an idea on what fuel trims are
