Hi All,

Just wanting to tell people about my recent experience with Cupra 300 Car insurance.

Collected my Cupra last Tuesday and needed to take out insurance. I got a quote of compare the market with esure for £800. This seemed really expensive and I tried calling around to get better deals nothing came through. This was to insure me and my partner (both young 25-26) and 0 NCB (own another car and have kept those with that car). We don't have any conviction etc so I was surprised with the expensive quote (my Z4 and 370Z where way cheaper than that). Anyway I went ahead and purchased the insurance.

Today I had been looking at GAP insurance quotes and for whatever reason decided to re-calculate my Cupra car quote on compare the market. To my surprise esure was again the cheapest quote but was £250 cheaper than what I just paid! I called esure to say that I was going to cancel (pay the £26 fee) and re-take insurance so to save me hassle could they just adjust my payments. They said not but would cancel my policy, refund my initial and wave the fee. I then just took out the insurance again but for £250 cheaper which also meant I got a week free insurance too.

I can't believe how much insurance prices fluctuate day to day its absolutely incredible.

Hopefully anyone else in the same boat can do the same thing as save a bit of $$$.

From my past experience it is impacted by insurance companies adjusting risk levels, they also seem to increase cost's the nearer to renewal date that you ask for.

I would also add that I was very happy with ESURE, they only charged me 70-00 to upgrade to stage 1 and are happy to add spoilers and side skirts but when I started talking about stage 2 and all the modifications to Engine / Trans bushes they said sorry cant quote for that. Adrian Flux were good for that sort of car.

Thats good to hear. Never used ESURE but they seem OK so far and I'm pretty happy with what is covered with the insurance.

Yeah they definitely raise the premium when your renewals coming up. I renew in November and run a quote every month just to compare, and the price plummets in february then raises gradually throughout the year until October when it raises a chunk.

All insurance companies do that (quote you higher for renewal - they're banking on you not bothering to change). I have to shop around every single year. It's a pain.....

Yeah I'm aware of that - I meant all the companies, when running a comparison quote they all suspiciously quote higher than the month or two before your renewal.

My insurance debacle was on a new policy and not renewal. I was just surprised how much the premium reduced (same company) after owning the car for 1 week. Anyway, my previous initial has already been refunded and I have taken out my new policy. Maybe I could keep doing this during my 14 day cool off period and see how long I can go taking 'free' insurance out week by week ;)

Wouldn't like to chance that in case of an accident, I can't imagine they'd be compelled to pay out despite their legal obligation to do so

In my Scoobie days back in early to mid 2000's I used LV as it was given the thumbs up by fellow Impreza owners. Now a days it's brokers such as Keith Michaels etc.. that seem to get you the better deals. As long as you've had performance cars in the past.
At the moment I've insured both my Then LEON TDI 184 and now my VW Golf R with them. Maybe worth contacting them to see what the price difference is. I normally speak to Gary Moulson @ Keith Michaels as they normally can source you a cheaper price with mods covered on a car.

Just done an insurance quote for a PCH owned new Leon Cupra 5 door manual

Best quote £288 for a year
For fully comp, the good lady & I to drive, protected NCD, 8000 miles / year, garaged, £100 excess (+ £400 accidental damage excess)

Who with ? Ahem, Saga
That should give you some idea how old I am lol

Bit of a bump with this. I am a few weeks off getting my Cupra 300 (hopefully) and I getting pretty high quotes:

- 31 years old
- 5 years NCB
- Clean license and no claims
- 10k miles

Current car (in signature) is £400 for the year. Cheapest I’ve found on the Cupra is £799 with admiral.

I obviously expected it to be more but not quite that much. Can anyone recommend and insurer to try?

Gary is a top guy - used him for 8 yrs with my Scoob STI, but when I switched to a Octavia VRS Keith Michaels were only 'middle range' and then when I switched to my current FR they couldn't get anywhere near Direct Line so I moved my business. If I had a Cupra, Gary would be the first person I would call........

Have you tried Aviva? They don't come up on the comparison sites. Cheapest for me although a few years older:)

Not too far away from my renewal on my Ibiza Cupra (22 yo), paid £1.4k this year after declaring mods with 10k miles

Doing half the mileage this time around and cheapest quote I’m getting is £1.6k... Despite being a year older, NCB and half the mileage, I might have to look into brokers

However a few months ago I did some hypothetical quotes come renewal and I was getting £950, don’t know what’s changed so drastically since then but it’s depressing me even thinking about it

I've used all sorts of companies including specialists Keith Micheals , Adrian Flux and still do for my modified T5 & Lotus 7 rep. For my yet to arrive Cupra I called sky insurance (not the tv company) and as usual for standard by hatch type insurance seem to quote very reasonable. Well worth a try!
