Does anyone here have a Cupra (or any other SEAT) in Mediterranean blue?

I have been thinking about doing a lease on a Cupra (a big step up from my current 2006 1.2 Clio...), and am debating what colour I would get. My favourite colour is definitely monsoon grey, but I'm not sure if it's really worth the extra £550.

If Mediterranean blue is a nice enough colour I'd probably stick with that and maybe let myself get the winter pack instead, but it's difficult to tell from pictures what it really looks like and I've not seen this colour in person. I don't want to be stuck with a car for 2 years that I hate the colour of.

Anyone have any pictures or can advise what it's like?

Also while I'm asking, any advice for doing a lease on this car? I've never leased before. I'm 22 and looking at a 6+23 lease with GAP and maintenance(including tyres), around £270/mo.

Thanks :)

Just to let you know that the recent lease deals were 1x23 with 8k year and where £249 a month. Although the 'sale' has now finished you can still find dealers that will offer deals very close to this and all the colours was included with no extra cost. Call up a few SEAT Dealers and push hard enough and you can still get the deal until 30th September.

The lease I was offered from vwfs was £250 deposit and £250 per month basic car 8k per year. This was a 24 month deal.
I opted for several options and put a larger deposit down. As part of the deal I was offered I had the choice from all metallic paint colours at no extra cost (apart from Red as it cost slightly more)

I'm just coming to the end of a 24 month lease on a 280 black pack and was paying the same price on for 10k per year.

The lease company have left me on a rolling contract until my 300 is delivered which is looking like January/February of next year.

Quite lucky as they reduced my payments considerably due to my milage being under and I continue to pay the same until the 300 is delivered.

Gap insurance is a must imho.
I never had maintenance on mine and will have paid for 2 services and 3 tyres by the time it's up. May be worth considering next time.

Personally not keen on the Mediterranean blue. Mystery blue looks better, But grey, silver and white are nice colours.

The new red looks good in the flesh too made my red 280 look really flat/dull.

The lead times at the moment seem terrible , so just bear that in mind when ordering.

I've spoken to a few and not been offered that kind of deal, may be a regional thing. Is there anywhere I can see it in writing?

I'm looking at 12k miles hower, best offer I've had has been around £1800 up front then £260 a month, including gap, maintenance/servicing and tyres.

Yeah I will definitely have gap insurance. From the quotes I've gotten, the maintenance fee seems fairly reasonable, based on the fact that tyres are around £130+ each from what I've seen, plus a few services will cost a few hundred.

Have you actually seen the mediterranean blue in person? I've seen some pictures where it looks nice and some where it looks horrible hence why I'm so torn.

Yeah all the metallic colours look pretty good to me but I like the fairly low profile of monsoon grey.

And yeah, been quoted around 20-24 weeks lead time, so I best hurry up and decide then order it!

Yeah the tyres I paid for were around £150-160 with fitting.

I've seen the Mediterranean blue in the flesh but it wasn't on the CUPRA model.
It wasn't very flattering but yeah it wasn't a CUPRA.

The grey looks stealthy and very smart, I chose white as it seems to hide scratches better.

I was very fond of the idea to get Mediterranean Blue to save the cost of getting metallic paint. Blue appealed a lot to me for a solid colour and was pretty much set on it.

That was until I saw it in the flesh on a 17 Reg!

You can see a picture I took of it on my profile in the Visitor Messages section.

I could not actually believe how dull it looked, so I would not recommend it and would much prefer the Monsoon Grey for a smart look, although the Desire red is quite special when you see it in person.

Wow yeah that does look rather dull, thanks for the pic.

I think if I go for it I'll get the Monsoon grey then, it's worth spending a bit more to get it in a colour I like. I don't think that blue is worthy of the cupra.

And yeah the red looks good and so does the metallic blue, but I like the more low profile grey.

Now I'm also debating if I should go for the winter pack for the heated seats.

Going to think about it a bit more in the next few days and probably go for it on wednesday :D Then there's just the loooong wait.

What options have you got on the list?
Added the winter pack this time round as I've always wanted heated seats.

That would probably be it, I'm struggling to convince myself to splurge for the Cupra as it is.

Found myself thinking about just going for the more sensible 1.8 TSI instead today. Cheaper to insure and run but still a good step up from my current car.

The Cupra really is overkill for what I need but that 300 PS is awfully tempting.

I had the 1.8TSI FR previously and it was a super drive and still very quick. You won't be disappointed if you drop down from the Cupra. Also I paid £22k for it (DSG, leather, winter pack, SEAT sound, sunroof and 18" alloys) and just sold it last month after 3yrs 2 months for £12k. So depreciation on the 1.8 was very good as there are not as many for sale. as there are 1.4 TSi and 184 diesel.

Give it some thought.

Hmm, thanks for the info.

I think I will get some quotes on the 1.8. Hopefully it would be a shorter lead time than the Cupra also.

I think I'd be going manual and alcantara seats, I liked them in the Cupra I test drove and probably prefer it to leather.

I’m picking up a new fr in med blue on Saturday. Agree not worth 550 for a colour. The dealer doesn’t think residuals will be affected by the only free colour they do. And the blue is ok.

It’s OK. Picked mine up today.

Thanks for the pic, think it actually looks pretty decent in good light. Have you got stock 17" alloys or the 18s?

Lovely, how do you find the ride on the 18in wheels? With 17" stock alloys on the FR I find the ride slightly firm but pretty compliant and stable.

Looking to get 18s but unsure if it will make the car quite uncomfortable.

I had 17in on the last one. The 18 in makes for quite a hard ride. I would t have chosen this option - but it was pre-ordered on the car I bought. Interestingly there is no warning light on the dashboard for the front fog lamps - but they do come on for corners!

A mate of mine has a dongle to allow me to access electronic stuff the manufacturer doesn’t want us to! I will probably chip it once I have run it in ...

That's the cornering light function which is why the dash doesn't display anything. It will display the usual symbols if you physically turn them on. Cornering lights can be turned off with obd11 or vcds if you don't like it.

And on subject of previous poster, I find my 18s plenty comfortable enough even on a long run.
