I had my res removed about a month ago from VAGsports. I loved it. Manual Cupra 300. However, these last few days whilst the weathers been hot, and after having it in Cupra mode and give it some stick in the lower Gears, I can smell a sort of burning smell. Anyone know if this will be the res delete? Maybe it’s blowing a little? Going to try and get it on a ramp the weekend and see if there’s any issues.

Get it on a ramp, but it maybe just the rear exhaust getting hotter than previous, or maybe some paste used to put it on.

However I wouldn’t automatically assume it’s the res delete, that’s just a separate pipe.

Yes you could be right. Just wondered if anyone else had similar issues. I’m going to get some past before I get it on the ramp so block any loose holes there maybe be. Do you recommend a decent one?

The only issue I have had recently is that the pops and bangs have virtually stopped. After fitting the vag res pipe I had 2 months of popping and all of a sudden it's stopped. I have been putting the same fuel in and doesn't matter which mode it's in. Mystery.

You know what I noticed this too. I noticed it was a lot quieter these last few days. How can this be?

Maybe they have now changed the petrol to its summer blend? On the plus side, I got more mpg (dont have a cupra though). Did have that strange burning smell a bit, when I put my foot flat, from a roundabout to NSL road on several occasions.

Ha just had a look up on summer blend petrol and yes they do change to a lower vapour fuel RVP it's called

If the exhaust is quieter and you smell burning you may want to see if you can look inside your rear silencer to make sure the materials inside haven’t collapsed. Only ever seen it once posted on here.

Never heard of the summer fuel. Everyday is a school day.

That’s strange as I am sure that you do get more pops bangs etc the higher the fuel octane. I have started using Tesco’s momentum 99 octane rather than Costco 97 and I do think there is a difference.
