If you could get a Akrapovic exhaust system for a cupra it would probably cost about £2500 and that’s not including fitting. Are the the real thing...no. But the look bloody good..View attachment 1953

Do you have a link to the specific ones you got?
... Also, some pics from under where the install can be seen would be nice ;)

It’s definitely louder off a cold start, but mine takes less than a minute to settle. Mine isn’t much louder unless I floor it. The engine note is definitely different though - mine has much more of a throaty burble to it which I love..

Yeah it is. Quite a big difference. Yeah it does settle nice in D. Then throaty and opens up as soon as you put your foot down. The farts are mint on gear changes.

To be fair, my car sounds rough as a bag of nails on a cold start

Jaco2k... I cannot actually find a link to the ones I purchased. Go onto a site called AliExpress type in Akrapovic exhaust tips and there are hundreds of pairs to choose from. The size I went for are 63mm in 76mm out and that will fit a standard diffuser. I have a new cat back exhaust system now so I can show you how they were welded on, hope this helps.

Really that bad . Eventually it should carbon up a bit and quieten down ever so slightly ?

Well maybe not quite!

It does sound a little ‘raw’ on start up when it’s cold, but it soon quietens to a lovely burble

I *think* I'm finding it too loud from 60 on wards. Around town its fun, but it's a little droney when you put your foot down on dual carriage ways and motorways. I'd image after a couple of hours you'd be getting through paracetamol at a rapid rate.

I'll give it another couple of weeks, but I may get it reversed, or maybe get a smaller Resonator as a middle ground.

No it wont settle in due to carbon because its just a straight pipe, theres nothing there to block up. If you are managing to get enough carbon build up to affect the exhaust on a 3" diameter steel pipe you have more pressing issues.:bleh:

I'd recommend giving it some time alright, it's a big change for the first few weeks. I'm about 2 months into my res delete and I find it fairly normal already. You get used to it after a while and forget what the original car sounded like. I think the smile it puts on my face while giving it the beans is worth the few minutes a week I find it intrusive and loud. My car for reference:

I really want to get the res delete and stage 1 remap done on my cupra, but the wife isn’t keen, as we share the car, I’m thinking just get it done anyway and be in the doghouse for a bit haha

I vote doghouse lol. My remap is booked in for next monday and had the resonator out last week lol

I’m hoping this will happen too , she’s already scared to put her foot fully down so prob wouldn’t know lol

Mine won’t even drive my Cupra... She is used to driving manuals day in day out (she’s a Paramedic) and is afraid that she’d use my brake pedal as the clutch if she jumped into it..!

Yes me too.
It’s absoitely mint around built up areas and towns. Sounds mega. But as you say, on dual carriageways and motorways, when you give it some load it is quite loud. However if you just drive at a constant speed around 70 ish, there is only a tiny bit more noise from standard. It’s just when you open it up. I never thought of a smaller resonator. You could be onto something there.

I am exactly the same. Has anyone noticed theirs getting louder over time? I've had mine done sine July and it has become noticeably louder.

The 280 is ok with just a res delete as from what im aware it has an extra silencer. Could you not consider another silencer like on the 280?

Even louder! nooo.

Maybe I'm just too old for all that noise now - but one of the main attractions of getting the Cupra is that it's understated and doesn't advertise its self, but you know it can destroy the odd chav who tries to have a go in their Golf GTI's.

Does anyone want to buy a 2 week old Resonator delete pipe (minus the bracket because I need that)
