I want to start off by saying I really like the Formentor. We have been quite lucky with our car and have not had as many issues as other on here but the dealer network and CUPRA customer service is abysmal

We had a recall on our hybrid battery because car could burst into flames CUPRA sent out recall with out have dealers with specialist tools and knowledge to fix issue after 5 calls to CUPRA customer service got no where in the end took 9 months to get done

Today I take my car in for service and when handing over keys say please can you update software to 1940 version as makes a massive difference to Car play screen which pretty much is what the car is on all the time.
Sorry sir there is no update for your car available at which point I tell them the software number still deny it is available. So then they say some updates are available if you have problems so I say Waze screen goes pixelated sometimes. So then they say you will have to re book for a have this looked at and they would have to find a fault. Then can update so there is an update but don’t want to do it.

I call customer services hoping they will put pressure on them to do but the was as helpful as a chocolate tea cup. Denied that 1940 existed I offered to email them a screen shot from here but just started talking nonsense again.

it is a shame that dealers and CUPRA are so rubbish with customer service god know what would happen if something really went wrong with the car. I have never had any issues with any other VW Group cars before.

we was thinking about buying a CUPRA born as our next car but really having 2nd thoughts

I just got back to dealer and offered TPI number.

Reading between lines they need to re book car in .which is inconvenience for me. But what it is if the dealer does warranty claim for for a fault then they will update because seat/CUPRA pay which is a joke because they tell you there is no software update when there is

Very frustrating

I have owned my Formentor for a little over two months. And I can say - that my impressions and enjoyment of such a beautiful, sports car - were completely spoiled.
This is the first car in my life with which I have so many problems and stress. I've never even needed to know the phone number of a towing service before.
I didn't have to go through the forums with any car and look for answers to a million incomprehensible problems in my new car.

Glitches, freezes, incomprehensible and not permanent operation of many car functions!

Even the sound of my music in the car is spoiled by incomprehensible creaking sounds sometimes!

My car has a life of its own, the systems fail and the battery runs out…
OMG, this is my last VAG car from at least the world of hybrids and all-electric cars.

Several dealers near me know almost nothing about this car and can't tell/help anything specific. There is only one answer to requests to update my car - there are no updates available for your car.

I really really liked this car. Super appearance, an excellent set of functions and additions for a car for a reasonable price. But all this fades against the background of the fact that sometimes I can not use my car at all !!!

Then call more dealers until you find one who will install the 1940 software for you. I know at least 2 montioned on the forum who do it under warranty.
And if all else fails (unlikely) pay 20 quid, download to usb from east yourshire retrofits and diy.

Damn. Sounds like your car has a fault and you should get it fixed.

Check your 12V battery health, it may not be holding a charge, even if it accepts 10A and your alternator is good.

While most unexplainable electrical gremlins are caused by low voltage on the auxiliary systems, it could also be parasitic drain caused by a module failing to shut down.

Also agreed about finding a better dealership to diagnose the car for you; however with any electrical problem, dealerships normally take weeks of troubleshooting before they exhaust all solutions and replace a battery under warranty, so be prepared to get a hire car from them.

If you called RAC or AA, etc. and they came out to you. Get them to email the breakdown report to you - so you can take this to the dealership. All useful ammunition to have.
