I've just had a look through a VAGCOM manual that was put in a thread below and it talks about how Staging isn't available in the Mk5 Ibiza, but it is in the Skoda.

For all who don't know. Staging, apparently, is where the needles on the dash do a full sweep and back to zero when the ignition is turned on. COMPLETELY pointless but I have to admit it does look pretty cool and would suit the sporty look and feel of the Cupra/Boc.

I don't like being told I cant do something :) soooo.... has anyone managed to get this to happen, if not, why won't it do it? The needles are digital so there should be no reason why it cant? Any ideas technical people?

arghh a quick search on google for staging or needle sweep (staging just brings up too many vids of people with stage 1 or stage 2 remaps) and it shows golfs, sciroccos, fabias, audi's, even Leons!!! but no ibeffas :( f-this, there must be a way, why wud they make it so u cant do it, what is it that stops it from being able?

I think it's because the Ibiza only gets a basic cluster. All the cars that can do it have Highline (aka Maxidot in skoda land and DIS for Audis) full height screens. Shame as it does look seriously cool.

Suspect they will change this and the non-standard radio size at facelift time. I hope it can be retrofitted!

I also desperately want a way for the speedo to be lit up all the time, it's too hard to read during the day end up running with the side lights on all the time.

The problem with having the dials lit up permanently is that there's no light on the dash to tell you that the lights are on if that makes sense.
The mk3 Ibiza had the dials lit up permanently but when you turned the sidelights on there was a little green light on the dash to let you know.
