I notice techie and Dave77 have painted their engine covers and think they look pretty good. For all Dakota Red Bocs, what colour do you think would suit if you were going to paint your cover? Also, what type of paint would you use, hammerite? Would need to be heat resistant I presume. I have 3 tins of Dakota red in aerosol but I suspect it would be no use for the engine cover.

I guess you would just apply a primer and then the heat resistant candy coat. Is any lacquer required to finish?

If u paint the turbo heat shield u will need heat res paint but for the cover I don't think u will need head res paint as it doesn't really get to hot.
As u may have read I got my dad to paint it while he was at work painting a White ford :)

As for the colour I think the red would look cool :)

I agree, matching the Dakota Red on the engine cover would look rather nice I think. Any contrasting parts (e.g. lettering, logos) should be left black, to match the Boc style.

I'm throughly tempted to have mine predominantly white with dakota red on the lettering and anything other small details.

i fancy getting mine painted... not sure what would work though! although blue and black would work :D i got to do it! there a guide on here anywhere? on how to take the cover off! dont want to break it :)

Taking the cover off is pretty simple. There's two plug in the underneath the front half of the cover and the back is attached via a slide in. Simply pull it upwards from the front until you hear/ feel two pops, then slide it forward and your done :) Can be done with or without the dipstick in.
