Hi guys, been looking through the forum trying to find out whats up with my K1, but not knowing enough about engines, i'm struggling...

For a while now when I floor it in 3rd or 4th, I'm getting a very noticable judder from the engine, and you can see the rev needle shaking as it rises. Its all across the full rev range. Reading previous posts, it sounds like coil pack related, but i'm getting no warning lights?

its an 09 K1 thats just cleared 28k and believed to be standard(I'm the third owner)

Any help/advice would be appreisated :D

yeah but the revo map was still on the ecu but in stock mode

Nope its not that one, this ones bright orange...

Just had it ticking over outside just 2 warm up. Noticed a little bit of splutter on the engine which makes it shake but not all the time, and you get a pop out the exhaust at the same time. Just got back from a quick run, it was doing it, but not very noticeable this time. Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it??

Hi Mate,

I had a very similar thing, my car had done 18k miles and it was the spark plugs. Get a set from SERE motors for about £35.

Best thing to do is try and get vag com on it and monitor the misfire's on each cylinder whilst driving the car and putting it under a bit of load (I think its groups 16 for No.1,2 & 3 and 16 for no.4). If its only on say cylinder 2 that is showing misfires, swap your coil pack from 2 to cylinder 4 and swap the spark plug from cylinder 2 to 3. Wherever the fault moves to is the problem and will answer your question. I.e. cylinder 4 misfiring will be the coil pack and cylinder 3 will be plugs.

Good luck

Cheers

Lee

I think I might hold off putting the coils in and order 4 plugs & swap them all at the same time incase the faulty coil has damaged the plug so I don't end up going round in circles.

As the car is still in warranty, would this be covered? And how would they fault find this fault in thw workshop? previous experience has shown Seat will only look at a problem if theres a fault light - no light, no fault in their eyes...

When you book it in make sure a technician takes it for a test drive with you in the car.

I share your senitments though - I've had very similar experiences, as have many here, to the point I simply stopped using dealerships and used a local tuning specialist for all works even when in warranty.

sadly seat are shite like this, it should be covered under warranty so try them first.

In regard to warranty repairs, do they have to be done through a Seat dealer or can VAT reged garages cover this type of work like they can for servicing?
The stuttering seams to be getting worse :( But still no fault lights. I notice the problem as the turbo spolls up and then onwards up the rev range. Does this still sound like coils?

Where abouts are ya mate? Get in the vag con section and find someone local to get vag com on it!!! Then u can go to seat with the fault code! Btw not all faults will bring the ecl on :)!!

Guessing your in coventry?? I'm up in cannock, if ur stuck I can do fault scan for you??

yep I'm in cov. I'm popping into to P-torque by recomendation on tues on my way through that way. I'm guessing he'll have that equipment.
I wasn't sure, thought with the amount of sensors and the like on it, if I can tell it aint running right, then the ecu should be able to...

No remap this time, just a diagnostics session. Found mis-fires on cylinders 2 and 3 so its booked in with my local dealer to have the coil pack looked at. It was also mentioned that the diverter valve may be leaking so needs to be replaced for a rev D as well.
