My Cousin is going to buy his mams K1 off her and he is going to GT30 it and is wanting to run a safe 380bhp, i am asking on behalf of him;

What would be the best intercooler? ( Without being too expensive)
What Uprated Fuel Pump Would he need?
What Turbo Back Exhaust would be best? ( i have told him Miltek)

I would appreciate any feedback on this topic cheers.

thats what i said but he is saying that he wants to run a safe 380 and then next year wants to go 450bhp when he does the internals.

Sounds like number chasing. Has he ever been in a Stage 2+ K04 Cupra? Getting a run in one might change his mind about spending so much on a big turbo.

If he went stage 2+ which appears to be vry safe, if nothing else, he will have all the hardware he will need for going big turbo and if he goes with the likes of Revo, the software upgrade to Stage 3 will be a minimal addition to what is required to get to Stage 2+.

I think he should own it and map it before coming up with big plans.

Why go for a GT30?

I'm just about to swap to a GT2871R and put in the internals as well. The response from the GT2871 will be better than the GT30 and give a better overall track/fast road car to boot. Regal are currently running over 450bhp with their GTI on a GT2871R[B)].

Intercooler-wise you would need to change your stoock intercooler as the plastic end caps (Does the K1 have the same as the ED30?) won't hold up to the extra pressures. This means either going for an S3 plus forge twintercooler (£800+ with fitting) or alternatively the THS intercooler, which is rated up to 600bhp and would cost less.

He'd need a high pressure fuel pump (Autotech, APR, KMD) and Regal also recommend uprating the in-tank pump too for higher bhp cars.

The APR RSC exhaust would give better results than the milltek as it has a 3" through system, plus has a 100cell cat as opposed to the 200 cell cat of the Milltek and so is less restrictive for output. The Milltek is good to though. Blueflame is another option with a 3" system and 100 cell cat.

Before your mate goes down the route of a big turbo, he needs to sample stage 2+ and also (and more importantly) have all the back-up modifications like Coilover suspension, ARB's, uprated brakes, Quaife etc to keep the car driveable.:)
