Hi, Just a quick question. Cant find anything on the forum or the internet but I have noticed in photos that the Cupra R has got the same style calipers as the S3 which are different from the normal Cupra calipers. Has anyone got anymore information on this.

Thanks, Gary. :)

Yes the pictures above are different calipers as I thought, they have the right angle edge at the top and bottom. S3, Golf R and Cupra R have it but the Cupra and Golf R32 dont.

I have looked further into it and it seems its the Cupra 2010 models onwards have the S3 style caliper aswell. I am looking to buy the brake set up and its £125 more for the S3 style calipers.

Some of the early R's had the old style calipers

They did change in 2010 some time. My 10 plate Cupra has the new style ones

Where have you been quoted £125 more?

The older ones are same as R32. Newer ones same as S3.

Mechanically the same just a cosmetic difference

Are the rears different though? I seem to recall the S3 had vented discs at the rear, the R has solid discs. Assume the extra weight at the rear of the S3 explains the difference?

S3 and R32 have the same 310mm vented rears

All cupra's and R's have solid 286mm rears. The s3's can be fitted to Leons as an upgrade ;)

I supplied this info, but I dont have any further spec other than the different part numbers.
The bit that confuses me is that I have physically seen a Cupra R with the R badge on the caliper spring but SEAT cant give me a prt number for it
On the S3 and R32 it is shown listed as clear as day. :help:

SEAT Dont seem to be able to provide part numbers for alot of R Parts as weve seen in the past
