Good Afternoon,
Last night I was replacing my Hockey Puck Valve due to an odd noise coming from the intake (only on idle). I thought this odd noise (sounds like blowback) could be due to this Puck, as squeezing the breather pipe from the TIP to the Puck stops the noise. Having replaced the Puck, I find that the noise is still there. I believe this noise is coming from the engine crankcase breather, as this noise also stops if this hose is squeezed.
When replacing the breather hoses, I found that all of them were completely covered in a Mayo like substance - the sort of substance that occurs due to a head gasket failing (or perhaps condensation). Is it normal for these breather pipes to be covered in this?
Having checked the oil cap, there is some (not a lot) of this mayo like substance. I have found none on the dipstick.
So I have two questions:
1. What could this noise from the intake be? I am sure it is coming from the top of the engine, through the crankcase breather hose and into the TIP. Also the noise stops from the intake if I remove the oil cap while the engine is running.
2. The mayo gunk in the breather pipes. Is this to be somewhat expected?
Also, please note that the oil was changed about 2 months ago.
Thanks in advance to any comments!
