What power is yours ? My old golf was 210bhp with just a stage 1 on the 180bhp engine, take it u meant LSD diff ? Does it help a lot does it ? How much can you pick them up for ? And I meant I'll stick with cloth not leather in last post

And what I was getting at about my old golf is I want something abit faster and I like my vags so lcr it shall be :D what would you recommend to get 300bhp ? As I no a stage 1 will close the gap a lot from 225hp to 300

Mine has only ever been on AmD rollers but it's a healthy stage two I don't think one has made more than mine on theirs with like for like mods (stock turbo and exhaust manifold) it made 309bhp and 357 lb/ft torque on a VERY cold day and after being recently serviced so it is realistically under 300bhp. I'd estimate it around 290bhp on a good day. I'd like a liquid gauge really as you can read bhp/lb ft torque readings taken live from the MAF on road tests, rather than going by some figure on a rolling road, as we all know they are a lottery.

All I know is it manages to scare me a bit in the wet, especially with the LSD fitted now lol :) I've got a Wavetrac I got mine with another gearbox 2nd hand for £750 but new a Wavetrac is going to cost just over £1000 plus fitting... So I actually saved a fair bit in this aspect. Brilliant mod though but I got mine fitted in December so haven't tested it out fully yet on track. I've felt it in use on some fast drives though. Really helps get the power down :)

To get towards 300bhp you want a full 3" exhaust from the turbo back. So the downpipe and decat 3" and a cat back (this doesn't need to be 3" but a full system will usually be the same as the rest of a system), you'll need a FMIC to maximise mid to top end torque, a strong stage two map and larger induction setup like an SFS 3" turbo intake pipe with a cone induction kit on the end of it. I run an 80mm neoprene cold air feed to my filter too.

Then biggest thing to make sure is you run it on v power or tesco 99 higher octane fuel otherwise timing will drop off and power pulled back... Good spark plugs like NGK Iridium's (cold rating 7's for mapped car) and then just make sure it's air tight with no boost leaks and you'll be pretty much there mate.

sounds easy enough to me :) on average most lcrs with a remap seem to get around 265/270hp right ? id probaly be happy with a nice exhaust system like you said and decat and a remap. maybe a fmic but that would be mainly for looks, but then again if im going to get one, i might aswel get a decent one. i dont think ill go in to the extend of upgrading turbo etc as i dont realy want to go too mental, that liquid gauge sounds like it could be a very cool little gadget, any ideas on price for them ?

If you want more than stock turbo power I'd say you do want an LSD as these things break traction with sub 300bhp so I don't know how anyone closer to 400bhp copes without one really!

Fmic will free up more poke mate and do more than just look good. The liquid gauges are £225 from race diagnostics mate but an awesome bit of kit I really want one still, lol.

Tried to put link in here to liquid gauge on their site but their site is down, lol!

ill tap it in google and have a look for one, from what iv heard, a cheap fmic is just a waste of time, is that true ?

and iv asked a few times on here but no one has answered. do the lcrs have cruise control and i see alot of people either fitting it or doing something to it ?

2nd hand liquid gauges do come up sometimes on ebay for anything between £150 and £200 mate. Defo £225 new for the Leon MK1 one though.

Cheap fmic's can work, some of the kits have been proven to work. The problem I had with my old TX one was the hard piping wasn't beaded so once the car was mapped and running higher boost levels, it was blowing the silicone joiners free from the hard piping creating a nasty boost leak. I have an Airtec one now which AmD sell and fit and it's awesome, no leaks, it's big and stealthy in black :)

Reputable tuners retro fit cruise to our MK1's for around £100 I think. I have't had it done, but if I did the motorway each day in the Leon I would.

ahh right so the cruise control is optional.. i use mine loads in my bmw lol but im lazy and the bmw is boring so might aswell just sit there and put up with the boringness .

i had one for my golf. which was on coilovers, and it was a fairly cheap fmic, the pipe ran under the intercooler rather than up and over the bay, andd because it was quite low im preety sure that pipe wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes so i didnt bother in the end

just need a stalk from a mk4 golf then ? my mate works at vw, he said before when i had one of my old golfs that its easy to fit c.c ... i think with 250+ bhp ill be having to much fun to bother with that to be honest lol rather spend my money on one of them liquid gauges ;)

Lol, so your BM wasn't an M3 then? :)

The fmic layout on the LCR is pretty clean and tidy the better the kit you buy. The custom one's can work fine but the flow efficiency of a Forge/Airtec/Pro Alloy will always win this. Depends how fussy you are and how much you're willing to spend at the end of the day, lol.

Liquid gauge is definitely a better investment than the cruise!

lol nah its a 320d 150bhp with a slipping clutch ! had an old 2.5 e36 a while back, 500 quid beauty, was alot of fun for money lol.

im guna have a browse on ebay google etc and see what the prices are like for genuine forge coolers

RWD can always be fun in the right conditions :p

Forge fmic's for LCR's go for good money 2nd hand, as Forge stuff holds its value well. Expect to see them listed at around £350 or even more.

AmD can do you an Airtec same as mine for £499 supplied I think it's still this price. Or ring them speak to Ben and see what he can do ;)

just watched an rs4 with a liquid gauge on youtube... i cant wait to get a lcr now just to have one of them in it lol. im not sure weather to buy standard and do myself or buy one thats already been mapped etc

I couldn't go without my cruise control now lol. The liquid gauge is a brilliant bit of kit, been a life saver to me recently as I had the coil packs go and it showed me which bank it was and all the relevant codes.
