Hi guys.

I have an 04 lcr and its mot time

The centre middle seat belt is stuck retracted. I can't get it to release.
Ive taken the seat out and freed the belt from the ground but still no movement.

Ive fiddled around inside the mechanism and can't release it. Are there any tricks or any security measures I need to bypass.

If no joy. Are any of the other seats from other leons a direct fit.

If its a hurry for mot, just take the back seats out..and seatbelts and clips things...I forget what they are called..what you plug the belt into. If its not there, there is nothing to worry about, put them back in once its got a ticket.
As for fixing it, I have no clue.

Cheers,

I said mot because I know this is a UK site. Its actually an Irish nct. The test requires you to have all seats and belts operational as per manufacturer requirements.

I can probably get a generic leon seat from a breakers. Are they universal?

Oh ok , learn something new every day yes they are from any Leon mk1. Not sure about the 5 door mk4 golf seat's but I know the fronts fit without issue. If a golf is handy then just look at the brackets as it should be OK but I'm not 100%.

Does your car have isofix points? (for child car seats). If you have a car seat fitted, they do not mess with the setup as it could violate the safety of the car seat. I've never known my rear seatbelts tested when my kids were small. If you could borrow an isofix car seat, this may get you through the mot? Just an idea anyway.

did you get this sorted...?

Mine did the same after some emergency braking was required

seemed to cure itself after i undid the seat fold mech and then 'slammed' the seat back into postion
