cupra rev limiter and runnging prob???

hi ive just bought a 99s cupra sport 8v but when i give it some it hits the rev limiter at around 4900 yet its no where near the red around a 1100rpm away what should it be and what would cause this??

also when its hot its very hesitanty when driving what is this as id like to try and fix as cheap as poss many thanks

Mate had this problem with his mk3 Golf (same 2ltr 8v) so ill see if i can find out what his problem was with it (if you can wait a day or two!)

have had this problem on other cars and the ecu was in a safe mode if a sensor is faulty or something is amiss with the engine it lowers the rev limit to help prevent a major problem, with any luck it will just be a sensor faulty, try getting the engine management checked my 8V is fine all the way to 6500rpm

timing and set up mine was like that took to midland vw well sorted now

i thought it might be timing but wasnt sure! is it worth just taking it to my local agent or is there a specialist i live in gloucetser
