Cupra ST tyres

Hi everyone, got myself a Leon Cupra ST 300 lux this past summer and have loved every second of owning it, especially after having a particularly problematic focus st hatch beforehand.

Was just wondering what tyres everyone uses, it came from the dealership with continental conti sports, and I had previously used Goodyear f1s and Michelin pilot sports on the focus.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, 19s on a Cupra ST 290. It's an excellent all rounder and we don't drive too many miles. It does wear a bit quicker than the Eagles F1.
Another Cupra hatch that I've driven had Goodyear Eagles F1 Supersport and had a stage 1 map. The car could put the power down and felt a tad more responsive.
I think either of those would be a good choice

The census of opinion on here is either Michelin PS4S or Goodyear Eagle F1 SupertSports or Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 5 - have a search through the older threads:

Some videos:

I have run the Conti SC5/6 on previous FWD VAG cars up to 200 ps and had absolutely no problems, but always replaced with the Goodyear Asymmetric 2/3/5 and preferred them as an option. However, the Contis weren’t that great on the ST300, and wore out c.7k miles.

Due to a good Costco offer, I went for the Michelin PS4S this time; I have been genuinely impressed - excellent levels of grip in all conditions, even on cold/wet roads. What has impressed me the most is the longevity - c. 14k miles so far and still 3-4 mm on the fronts and 5 mm plus on the rears.

Had Continentals on my previous Cupra 280 and they were pretty good. I run Michelin PS4S tyres on my Golf R - excellent all round tyre although when I gave it a boot with cold tyres on a cold, slightly greasy road, my traction control light did flash leading me to think my Haldex had packed up. Next day with warmer tyres and slightly milder conditions, it was fine. This should give you a good idea - they tested 19s instead of 18s this time so even better! https://www.evo.co.uk/tyre-reviews/18309/best-car-tyres-evo-performance-tyre-test

Got Conti on mine and they are ok. I have Hankook winters on at the moment and in the wet cold weather at the moment they are superb. Friend was following me in an S3 the other day and he was amazed how quickly I was going on wet greasy cold road. He couldn’t keep up and feel safe . He is off to local tyre depot to get some winters fitted tomorrow. When the conti get down to 4mm I will probably look at Goodyear or Rainsport 5 . I rate both tyres

Car Length In Front
Toss up on the cost of the following.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S - comfier and better tyre life.

Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport - better wet grip and usually cheaper.

So if the Goodyear are a good chunk cheaper, it balances out with the better tyre life of the Michelin. If price is the same then the Michelin are better value.

Mine is a lease car and came as standard on Conti SC 5. Not had any problems thus far and good overall grip but then the car has only done 7k miles with only spirited (not aggressive) driving so not much of a comprehensive review from me.
