Hey,

So we have snow forecasted in the Midlands for next week and I'm starting to get excited... My old car (Z4) wouldn't even get off my driveway in snow so I was a prisoner in my own home!

With the K1 being FWD I'm assuming it will work... But it is fun? ;)

I had not seen the forecast but yeah last winter was fun. If your sensible then you can get from a to b fine.

But if you like the wheels to spin and slide you only have to give it a bit and you will be all over the place

Winter tyres + get up before everyone else = no problems + fun

i found my Mark 1 cupra TDi HORRIFIC in the snow last year, and the year before, ive never had to abandon a car of mine but the cupra got left down the road twice, not expecting much from my mark 2 FR TDi at all 2b honest if the snow does arrive in he midlands tonight

If I see even one snow flake next week my car is not leaving the driveway for a month just to make sure. I saw way too many cars in ditches last year.

same ere, thats why ive got a defender 90 now aswell, do not want my car getting hit by any of the absolute planks that aint got a bloody clue how to drive, they can drive into the defender as often as they like, i pretty sure they'll come off 2nd best haha

Snow and ice are a different ball game. I find the FR ok in snow, so long as you know how to drive properly in snow (which a surprising number of people don't!!). Ice, you'll struggle in most things.

The amount of people I saw yesterday spinning out in their BMW's, Mercs, Astras and crappy saxos was just crazy, was lucky to avoid at least 7 incidents on my way home from work. The worst was a 3 bus pile up.

Lol that vid is priceless is it anyone on here ? PMSL

as said just got to know how to drive. Biggest problem being not leaving enough space and having to stop. Once moving you can idle up most hills :)

My problem. Traction contol light stuck on lol so I dont have any lol. Really should get that fixed

sometimes TC can be a hinderance not a help. snow is different to ice. just ask a friend of mine who managed to slide his new Disco sideways into a lamppost while boasting to his dad about its " four wheel drive superb grip" er not on ice mate!! :)

I posted this last year:

I've found my Cupra to be OK in the current snowy/icey conditions.

I have to get up and down a hill to before I can reach a clear road.

I turn off the ESP, stick it in second gear and as Martin Brundle says tread on the throttle so carefully imagine there is an egg underneath it and you are trying not to break it!!

I took out Mrs Saintelise's A4 Cabrio this afternoon and it felt nowhere near as good as my car.

Now I am no driving God I'm sure, although I have been at it nearly 26 years - the one thing I have done is some tuition on an old fashioned skid pan at Goodwood - covered in oil and water, much slippier than you can imagine, but they teach you to be so gentle with your throttle and steering inputs because any sudden movements and you will lose control.

As I've also said before, last car was an Elise, no driver aids at all, very light and semi-slick track biased tyres - probably the reason why the Cupra feels so well planted in most conditions to me.

 funny how many people forget that all cars have 4 wheel braking - which is what you usually need to prevent an accident!

My car was crap in the snow until I fitted some snow tyres :)
