Just fixed mine: Leon 2001 TDI Mk1 Newbie to SeatCupra.net so will try and post pictures too
The internal side of the windows ran with water during the winter, so it had to be coming from somewhere. I slowly found and fixed the cabin leaks Windscreen drain leaking onto drivers well. Drivers Door and offside passengers door, took off panels and re-sealed the inner leaf. Will do the nearside doors anyway as they don't appear to leak, but might as well before they do.
Flashing Dash and bleeping started without the keys in the ignition a few months ago. Suspected damp and tried to dry out the inside cabin. Ended up disconnecting the battery and coming back to it once the inside appeared dry.
Bleeping and Flashing stopped for a while and started again. Looked for more leaks. Found another and fixed this one, Gromit loose from engine compartment.
I noticed that the Glow Plug lamp still glowed very dimly even without the keys in the ignition. I got a new relay from Seat and replaced the relay. Even with the relay removed the glow light was still on.
Also very very dimly the brake light was on also, you could only see it at night.
Checked all earths, under battery, behind dash all OK.
Finally only thing left was to take out the Instrument panel, really easy to do. Carefully dismantle it and use a peice of card to protect the display when prising off the needle pointers. they are tight but only slide on.
Here is the fix: - The Green Plug socket area: Over the period of leaks, moisture had causes very minor corrosion and had left salts around the pins and around the componants.
TOP TOP: Photograph both sides of the board using your phone or tablet. My eyes are not that great for fine detail and zooming into the image makes it really easy to see. Take pictures at each stage and check the cleaning process.
I cleaned the salts off with witchhazel (all I had to hand) and a cotton bud and dry it off with another bud and removed the lint with selotape. I didn't reasemble the panel, just connected back the panel to the green plug. Still the Glow Plud light was lit.
Next job, check all the solders. To be honest even zooming into all of them they looked fine bar a couple. As the moisture had caused the corrosion it might have got under some of the joints, so I went round all of them with the solder iron and just touched each to melt the solder, no more than just a touch, as I am not that expert.
Went all over the pins etc where any sign of corresion had been.
Took the board back to the car to test, great NO glow plug light.
Re-assembled and fitted back. Took the car for a spin and checked for any dim glows with a coat over the dash. Nothing.
Hope this sorts yours too
