Hi guys,

Had a warning light ping up on my dash- looks like a steering wheel? Orange in colour, came on-engine lost power for a second & needles moved- & then fine but light stayed on, got home fine, turned off & turned on again- lights gone??

What is it? & do i need to get it looked at asap? Looked in my Haynes manual, no help & don't have the original owners

Power steering light I think.

From memory it could be caused by low fluid or weak battery or a problem with the pump but search on the forum and you should get more answers.

It came on because the engine lost power, not the other way around! The power steering is electric so it registered the voltage drop. Thats why when it was turned off and on again it disappeared. Mine used to do this when my coilpacks were on the way out.

It's electrically assisted hense why if you turn the wheels while stopped, the lights will dim a bit as the power steering is drawing power.

when you start up make suure lights are off and all dash lights go off as power steering is partly electronic and needs a fair bit of juice on startup

Ok so took her to garage today, they hooked her up & can't find anything wrong- did code fault checking, nothing.
Said if it happens again in the next week to bring her back & they'll look again, does need a full service so could be linked ina roundabout way to that- so she will going in for that (&& to have door fixed) next month as have to cough up for insurance this month!
