De-Cat & Cat back

Not sure if this is in the right place but:

Looking for both de-cat down pipe plus catback exhaust system getting prices roughly around 550 for both inc VAT anybody know if this is a good price or I should be aiming for cheaper?

Also many of the threads around this are 2010/2009 but is it still right that doing a decat shouldn't have an effect on MOT?

If you're looking for something like a miltek system (which is what a lot of people go for) that is around the right price.

You could probably get it cheaper if you went to an exhaust place and had a custom one made up.

As for decats, I believe (dont quote me on this) that decats will now fail an MOT if the car is meant to have one from standard. It is only a visual inspection though, no emissions testing.

You could just get a decat pipe and keep the cat stored away and simply put it back on when its MOT time or get a pipe that looks like it has a cat but really just a straight through, up to you.

Yea MOT regs say you need a cat, so be prepared to either remove and refit for the MOT or find a friendly tester.

Will have a word with the guy who does my MOTs on the weekend, known him for some time but unsure if he'd be willing to let that slide.
